    Simple but good price

The Hotel is located a little away from the center of Gijon, but close to some industry and business facilities. The rooms are clean and furnished quite modern. The breakfast was a little small, but enough variation for a night or two.Wifi was fast.Service at the reception was very nice and helpful.

    Don't Even Think About It!

    rating09 Sept 2016

Location is fine with good local transport links to the city, but it is not in the city centre. Everything else about the hotel is poor. It has four stars on its roof, but it is not like any 4* hotel that I've stayed in. There are no amenities to speak of that would warrant a 4* rating. The rooms were dingy, tired and the walls had been chipped. The shower head in the first room was not fixed to the wall firmly and water also leaked easily onto the bathroom floor. The most disappointing thing about the rooms were the beds. The first room we were placed in had two single beds pushed together to make a double - both beds sagged considerably and resulted in a terrible first night. The next morning we asked to move to a room with better beds and we were placed in a room with the same layout and twin beds that were just as bad with very visible sagging. The receptionist seemed surprised that we were dissatisfied, saying that the mattresses were "only 8 years old". We were then moved to a room with a double bed which was an improvement but the mattress was still uncomfortable and the stench of stale cigarettes meant that we had to decide between opening the window for some relief but letting in mosquitoes in the process, or having a bite-free but highly unpleasant environment. It was not enjoyable to spend any time in the rooms - the TVs were very small and broken so that they faced slightly downwards, the choice of channels was poor, the mini-bar was empty, there were no facial tissues and there was no bottled water. I could go on, but I don't want to be here all day! Before you book here just ask yourself, 'Is this really what I want from my 4* hotel?'.

    Dont expect too much

I arrived at this hotel on a Sunday and as it is the middle of an industrial area all was quiet. On going to the room I found the blankets on the bed were fraying and several holes I phoned reception and was told as it was the weekend no manager was available. The only saving grace for this hostel was the restaurant was pleasent as were the waiting staff

Ok when you get there but tricky to find

    rating28 Jul 2014

A short distance (10 minute drive) from the centre of Gijon and convenient to town and port when you get there. An average hotel, clean, comfortable and decent service. Breakfasts are fine. My main issue was finding it- the address is a Road number with a hyphen which my satnav didn't have on the keyboard, The hotel name also has a strange symbol on the letter 'n' which I couldn't type. Also, every other Sercotel for 300km was in the satnav's memory system except this one. After asking at another hotel I found it. It is also on a one-way road adjacent to the main freeway which makes access even more tricky.

    Good stop -over hotel

We caught the ferry from Gijon to Poole and as a first time on this route we looked for a hotel close to the ferry terminal. La Borona was ideal for this, about 10 mins drive. The hotel is new, very helpful and pleasant staff. Very adequate breakfast and a good value dinner.Built within a new industrial estate, the views were poor, but if a quick stay, in a clean environment together with underground free hotel parking is what is required it ticks the boxes.
