  Good value. Favourable price to quality ratio. Breakfast is good. Comfortable and spacious rooms. The center area and the Ocean is very close. Once in the area, I would consider a second stay here.

  Dreary, old hotel with doors creaking; cracks, scratches and peeling of bathtub, walls, flooring; air conditioning and bathroom ventilator that don’t work; very uncomfortable bed, pillows and linens; extremely dark and spooky parking garage… the list goes on. I’m not sure how this hotel hangs onto its 4 star rating. The only positive is the staff who are friendly and helpful

  The hotel do not feel like a Melia or a 4 star.There is damage on baths, rooms are small, facilities not well maintained.Gym equipment was old a had missing parts, no ventilation, working out for a short period and the CO2 reader will raise to 800 plus.Looking back i wish i have book an other hotel for the stay, i book this as i was specting a Melia and 4 star experience. alfonso Lara, Director General at Hotel Zentral Gijon Rey Pelayo, responded to this review Thank you very much for choosing our hotel during you stay in Gijón and giving your feed back.   Not Mellià standards: we know Mellià hotels so we expected to find something similar. Unfortunately everything was old: blanket, bed, sheets, bathroom, floor...Nevertheless, the girl at the reception was very kind, earnest and cooperative. alfonso Lara, Director General at Hotel Zentral Gijon Rey Pelayo, responded to this review Dear Paolo: Thank you again for choosing us during your stay in Gijón and for sending us your comments, this help us to improve our services. We apologize for the inconvenience caused during your stay. i don´t want to repeat the answer i sent to your mail. If there is an incident in the hotel, there is a 24-hour service, as you know at reception. Even if it is late, they can perfectly give you an answer..About the bathroom it is a question of aesthetics rather than functionality because they are operationally correct. Shower, bathtub, sink, toilet and bidet. The bathroom equipment is all checked up to date by both our cleaning staff and technical services working properly. Regarding the aesthetics of whether they are newer or less, I think that as everything is to the taste of the clients.I appreciate your comment about the reception.   This hotel was quite reasonably priced for the time of year and the rooms are large and clean. It is a big, impersonal hotel with its own convenient but very dark car park for 16 euros a night. The location is good: near the beach and park and about 20 minutes' walk from the old town.
