  Lovely Parador - I think it used to be a Nunnery. It is built into, and part of the city walls. There is very limited parking - and you have to drive through the City walls to get to it. Well located to walk to all the attractions in Avila.The staff were pleasant and helpful. There is a small (ish) bar and lounge area and a nice dinning room. Breakfast was excellent.Nice bedroom and bathroom.There was a lot of building work going on when we were there - I think that there is a central Quadrangle but it was all covered and cornered off - so everything felt a bit like a 'rabbit warren' but I am sure it will be lovely when finished.   Be aware- Paradors are undergoing major renovations, whilst still “ welcoming” guests

  We visited this Parador in order to experience the medieval architecture of the town.We were very disappointed to discover that the Parador was in midst of mayor renovation. We had no prior warning of the building works We were particularly looking forward to the hotel gardens, however due to the building works, they were inaccessible. Large parts of the hotel were cordoned off. The hotel had a feel of being on a building site. The staff did their best in difficult circumstances In addition the air conditioner did not work.   We had an okay stay: the rooms are spacious and clean. The personnel is friendly. The hall was under construction which took away the charm of the building. The food and drinks are average and quite expensive; especially the drinks.   Great, but room too hot

  The hotel is placed in a beautiful, old town palace and you step right back into history, entering it. It has great rooms, a good location near one of the gates. Overall we were quite satisfied, we were only not very happy that apparently, in autumn the air conditioning is switched off and put on heating mode. But since the temperature outside was still 20+ Celsius, the room was unbearably hot (25 C). Luckily we managed to switch off the heating system and there were doors we could open.
