We usually stay in the Parador chain of hotels when visiting Spain but, as there were renovation works on, you decided to try the Sofraga Palace. What a wonderful decision that was. From the moment we arrived, until we left every aspect of our stay was simply phenomenal. You need to book dinner/drinks/food in the cafeteria at night. A wonderful place, with a great vibe, it is full of locals (which is always a really good sign). Our bedroom and bathroom were both beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Although, the lack of tissues and shower cap were puzzling. Our bed was extremely comfortable and we slept like logs. Breakfast the following morning was nice, all the cold offerings were perfect, the hot options from the menu left a little to be desired.Check in and to check out went seamlessly. This hotel oozes character as it is built right into the old city walks. Although modern and contemporary, it fully respect the integrity of the building. Hats off to the interior designers and architects.

One of the very best

Very comfortable hotel: large bed, luxurious towels, good tea and coffee facilities, USB charging points. Excellent breakfast, freshly cooked. Lovely location just inside the walls. The restaurant was excellent, friendly and professional. We had anchovies and tuna tartare starters then grouper fish and sweetbreads as mains. With a bottle of wine the bill was €144 less 10% discount for residents. Not cheap but good value. Had we stayed longer we could easily have eaten our way through the menu with different dishes twice over.

A hotel in a very Central Location
30 Oct 2025
We stayed at Sofraga Palacio for one night and were very pleased with its central location, making it easy to explore the city. The hotel has a small paid parking area, the reception is on the first floor. The staff gave us a friendly welcome. Our room on the second floor was relatively small and dark, with no notable view. The bed was a bit narrow (about 150 cm), but the modern bathroom was spacious and comfortable. The room also featured a fridge and an espresso machine, and the air conditioning worked well. The TV offered international channels.Breakfast followed the usual Spanish standard and was satisfactory.Overall, a well-located hotel with modern amenities, suitable for a city stay.

What a fantastic experience we had. this is the best hotel that I have ever stayed in and I've stayed in a lot, cheaper and dearer. From the moment you drive through the castle gates you fell totally at ease and what a view awaits you. Parking was easy, we did pre book which is recommended. We wre greeted at the desk by Carolina (I hope I've spelt that right). She was so pleasant and helpful what a credit to the hotel she is..thank you again Carolina. The room was unbelievable...spotlessly clean and welcoming, and as for the bathroom...well!!!We ate in the restaurant which was bliss. the food and wine was delightful as was our young female waitress (I didn't get her name, but she will know who she is) so calm and totally professional and I wouldn't be surprised if she was running her own hotel in the future she obviously loves her job....Owners, keep hold of her for as long as you can!We slept well and breakfast was a delight...a perfect end to our stay....Thank you all at Sofraga... you deserve all these excellent comments!!

History and affordable luxury
11 Jul 2025
Only stayed one night but it's a beautiful property in a stunning city. Converted about 10 years ago from a 16th century palacio, it's kept the history but blended in modern spacious rooms with style. Centrally located within the city walls, it has an outdoor bar, breakfast room and very handy onsite parking that I suggest is pre-booked only 15 EUR for a whole day. Very reasonable room rate for the quality even in high season, I wished I could have done another night or two.
