    First impressions weren’t positive. Unlike most paradors, there was no sense of arrival either at the rear to the cramped car park (when it’s busy prepare to make multiple manoeuvres) or the front by a building site.Inside, first impressions were a whiff of damp mustiness pervading the public areas and accommodation. The pool area was uninvitingly USA motel concrete bland.Our bedroom was small but had a sitting area of equal size. It was ok but far from meeting the description of ‘superior’. Bedroom natural light was limited to a small window which invited street and traffic noise. The WiFi was irritatingly unstable. On the positive side, the location near the splendid Roman sites is excellent. The restaurant was good although, like the whole region, there was a paucity of vegetarian options. Breakfast buffet was fine.Bottom line - if you’re thinking of staying in a parador in Extremadura choose Trujillo!

    Very nice rooms with small balcony overlooking courtyard. Interesting architecture and period furniture throughout. Good location for the monuments. Reasonable price for room but parking was ridiculously 24 Euro a night. Most expensive fee for any hotel we stayed on this trip through Spain and Portugal. Large bathroom, everything clean, fluffy towels. Breakfast was too many sweets and no coffee machine, must request coffee and any eggs from staff. Fast service but we prefer getting our own from a buffet as is common in most hotels. Lost a star for the breakfast and the parking fee.

    Perfect location right in the centre, it has a very nice cloister where aperitifs are served. Room was big, spacious and clean, with a nice open view; a long way to reach it through long corridors.A swimming pool in a slightly odd place with no much sun and not too close to the sun-beds, but nice to be able to refresh at the end of the day.     For a Parador - could do better.

    We stayed here on our way south, staying two nights as husband wanted to visit Badajus. This was our lowest rated Parador, it was pretty hard to find, Merida seem to like closing their roads, and parking arrangements were a bit tricky. Once we had found our way in there was a rabbit warren to get to Reception, the place had been a Convent and it was very spread out. Room was a bit small and the 'nice view' I had requested was over the parking spaces. Also no tea or coffee making facilities! The bathroom looked overdue for a refurb.There was a very pleasant cloister bar showcasing some of the history of the place, it went way back before the Convent days. We had bar food for lunch which was good. Ate out the first night but the second night couldn't get into the restaurant we planned to so ate in the restaurant which was fine though service rather slow, as it often is at Paradors. Wouldn't rush back.

    We have stayed at many paradors. This fell short of excellent. The staff were good. The room was good and the cleaning of the room was good I felt the breakfast was not of the same high standard. An example the walnuts were in small pots which was a poor idea. Paying good money for a hotel who try to control the walnuts you require is beyond comprehension.We had 3 evening meals. The staff were excellent as was the wine. There were several main courses that fell short of our expectations. The oven cooked big was not 100% cooked. We had monk fish with rice. The rice was stodgy and tasteless. Starters were fine as were the desserts, but mains were disappointing
