Beautiful Parador
30 Oct 2025
We loved this parador. We booked their suite for our anniversary and were very impressed. We had our own private and very large balcony facing the front of the castle. The room was very comfortable and very clean. It was very close to the center of the town where they had some restaurants and shops. We also got to see a religious procession one night. We enjoyed the breakfast everyday. They had good selections and a gentleman that was always coming around to ask if we needed anything else. We also had drinks one night at their bar, which was okay, but unfortunately it was just a small place with no views and a bit underwhelming. We were not able to tour the castle because they said that they only do it on Sunday at a specific time. We had plans to visit a nearby town so we had to pass on this. They have parking right in front that you pay them daily. They give a ticket to put in the front of your dashboard, because if not, you will get a ticket. But we never had a problem finding a space.

What a place! You must visit!

A beautiful, ancient building in an historic town. So much to explore. The rooms at the parador were comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant and breakfast too, both meals were very good. There’s a nice bar, an outside seating area and a lovely pool which we were able to use even though it was September. Highly recommended.

Beautiful small castle in a pleasant small town
03 Oct 2025
Easy to find. Paid public parking in square at front of hotel, can get full. Get parking ticket daily from reception (5 euros). Lovely nicely restored old building. All staff pleasant and helpful. Whole hotel spotlessly clean. Room 305 was huge, with two balconies, each facing a different aspect. Don't miss going up to the ramparts. Access is via a door on the second floor. The courtyard in the middle with seating for the bar and restaurant is very pleasant, though I am not sure how they cope when it rains hard. Breakfast and dinner up to the usual Parador standard.Zafra is a pleasant small town with a Plaza Grande surrounded by restaurants. There is an interesting medical museum in the town, but all the descriptions are in Spanish, and the lady there did not speak any English, so unless you speak Spanish, or have medical knowledge (like us) you may not get a lot from your visit.
