    Brilliant location!

    rating20 May 2026

Second time I’ve stayed here and would definitely come back. Absolute bargain for the price! Lovely room, clean and comfortable. It did get a bit warm at times, but nothing too much to worry about. Overall, a really good stay.

    Why did we leave Barcelona?

    rating09 Nov 2025

We enjoyed our visit here. We booked two rooms on the hotels website. I signed up for their membership program which gave us welcome drinks.Early check in wasn’t available but they stored our bags until check in time. I was told some taxis won’t come to the gothic quarter but coming and leaving early in the day- before traffic started - we were able to use the taxi to come from the port and then go to the airport a few days later. Accommodations were just a step above basic, we had to ground floor rooms that faced the courtyard it was overall quiet nice spot. The AC could have been a little stronger but eventually it got going. I always travel with a little fan these days. Staff was helpful with requests. A few parts of this room needed some Tlc but overall matched our needs. Little cafe near the entrance was great for a quick coffee pastry and had a little bar too. Small grocery store literally across the street.Easy to walk to many different locations from here like las ramblas but thought the hop on hop off bus was kinda a waste of money. Maps confusing long lines not enough buses after first stop etc.

Great location made this an easy choice.

    rating14 Oct 2025

The location of the hotel was the biggest selling point for us. We had stayed just off La Ramble years ago, and that's kind of chaotic. The Gothic district is very near La Rambla too, but SOOOO much quieter. You're near lots of great shops but also near some key sites. This hotel was 5 minutes from the Cathedral (no Sagrada Familia, which is NOT a cathedral; it's near the medieval cathedral), 5 minutes from Palau Guell, 4 minutes from La Rambla, less than 10 minutes from subway station. It was a 25 minute walk to Casa Batllo, but through some lovely neighborhoods, so that was actually great. The hotel itself is on a tiny street. When our driver picked us up from the cruise port, one of the first things he said is "this is the most difficult hotel to access in Barcelona." It did prove challenging, driving down some really obscure streets that clearly weren't used to cars, as pedestrians had to really clear out of our way. When we left a couple of days later, the driver could only figure out one way to get to our hotel...by driving backwards down the street! So there's that. The rooms are perfectly adequate, and our only complaint was the VERY slow functioning of the a/c. Took a couple of hours to drop the temp 2 degrees. But it was clean, the features were modern if a bit sterile, good water pressure, comfortable mattress. We had a single King bed, and it was HUGE. The staff was not terribly friendly, but we got the job done. Breakfast is not included, and is quite expensive, so we never availed ourselves of it. But they do have a tiny cafe at the front of the hotel, and another cafe next door...so you won't starve. The pool at the top is nice, but very small. We were on the same level as the pool, but never used it. It was pretty much ALWAYS in use by someone...someone sitting poolside with their feet in the water. It's not really big enough to swim in.

Great Stay at Hotel Catalonia Avinyó

    rating02 Aug 2025

I stayed here for a couple of nights mainly because of its proximity to the cruise port, and it turned out to be a great choice. The hotel is tucked away in the Gothic Quarter—a charming, lively area—and just a 10-minute walk to La Boqueria and close to Plaça Reial. The rooms were clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The only downside for me was the strong floral scent used in the lobby—it was a bit overpowering and not really to my taste.Aside from that, I’d definitely recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a cozy and well-located place to stay in Barcelona.

Paid to much for an old and cheap hotel

    rating17 Jun 2025

The hotel is old, cheap and not worth of the money. The room facing the street on the second floor is noise, no insulation. Changing to a room on the garden side, but the room is damp. The AC and toilet not working properly. Call the front desk twice and only fix the toilet.
