    Holy place with a lot of tourists.

    The Abby is a wonderful and holy site. However hot water in my apartment was almost non existent and I had to sit on the toilet sideways because the space was so cramped. But I went for spiritual purposes so I accepted these issues. All said my four days were a fantastic experience.

    The little basic apartment was fantastic and well equipped except it needs a couch, coffee maker, basic cleaning supplies (sponge and dish detergent), curtains for privacy and bug screens in the windows.The place is gorgeous, the bell ringing every hour makes it very special.

    Horrible smell

    My room had a horrible smell coming out of the bathroom drain, like rotten eggs. The room was also not quiet at all. I could hear all the rooms around me as well as the monastery’s bells every quarter hour. The site is absolutely beautiful but I would wait until the new building is opened.

    Even though it looked a little simple, it was just what we needed.The beds were good. There was a fine fridge with a small freezer. And a gas-stove.A great little tip, fill your half-liter water bottles HALF, with fresh water and put them in the freezer before you go to bed.When you go out the next day, fill up the rest of the bottles with fresh water, and you have a cold drink for hours.

    The apartments at Monserrat are quite dated but spacious and immaculate. Plus, they're pet friendly! Dishes and linens are provided but no soaps or matches for the stove. Staying the night at Monserrat has a great added benefit...it's calm and peaceful after all the day-trippers leave.
