    I hereby submit a formal complaint regarding the inadequate provision of services during our stay at your hotel in Barcelona.The quality of service, the condition of the rooms, and the performance of the staff did not correspond to the stated standard of the hotel or to the information presented on the booking platform.⸻1. Misrepresentation of Advertised ServicesThe air conditioning, presented as one of the hotel’s advantages, was in fact non-functional.The room remained excessively humid and stuffy even with the window open.The bed linen was damp.There was a persistent smell of mold throughout the premises.The bathroom lacked proper ventilation.These circumstances caused significant discomfort and raise serious concerns regarding compliance with basic sanitary standards.⸻2. Breakfast OrganizationThe entire hotel is served by approximately 15 tables, a fact about which guests are not informed in advance.As a result, queues form and guests are forced to wait for seating.The breakfast selection was extremely limited.Dishes and cutlery showed visible traces of dirt.Service was slow, and the sanitation of tables appeared inadequate.Such organization falls far below acceptable hospitality standards.⸻3. Staff ConductDuring breakfast, on the occasion of my husband’s birthday, I approached a staff member to request a lighter for a candle on his cake, having clearly explained the situation. The request was denied without any alternative offered or even a minimal attempt to demonstrate customer care.The hotel possesses guests’ personal data, including dates of birth, yet no gesture of acknowledgment or even a basic congratulatory remark was made by the staff.⸻4. Critical Transfer FailureOne day prior to departure, we pre-booked a transfer to the airport for 8:45 a.m. The time was agreed upon with the administrator based on the estimated travel time (approximately 30 minutes).Fifteen minutes before the scheduled time, it became clear that: • The transfer had not been booked. • A marathon was taking place in the city, and streets were blocked. • We were not informed in advance that the service could not be fulfilled. • The administrator claimed she had attempted to contact us, which is untrue (no missed calls, messages, or notifications were received).As a result, we were forced to find transportation ourselves at the last minute, risking missing an international flight.This situation is a direct consequence of negligence and unprofessional conduct. Had we missed our flight, the financial consequences would have been substantial.⸻ConclusionThe only positive aspect of the hotel is its location. However, the level of service, the condition of the facilities, and the conduct of the staff completely negate this advantage.I request: • A formal written response addressing the issues outlined above; • A clear explanation of the circumstances that led to these failures; • Consideration of appropriate compensation for the inadequate provision of services.Should no satisfactory response be received, I reserve the right to escalate this matter to the relevant supervisory authorities and to publish detailed reviews on major international platforms.

    Terrible hotel’s management

    Very disappointing experience with this hotel’s management. Due to a serious health issue, I was medically forbidden from flying. Despite informing the hotel in advance and providing all medical documents, they refused to reschedule our 8-day stay by just one week. The prices were the same or even lower, yet they kept €2,000 and showed absolutely no understanding. They simply ensured we wouldn’t arrive so they could resell the room. Extremely unprofessional and unfair.

    Centrally located hotel within walking distance to a lot of sites, there is a direct Aerobus running from the airport to Plaça Catalunya which is 2 minutes walk away. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean with adequate air conditioning. Paula was very helpful for restaurant recommendations and transportation. We would definitely stay here again.

    Nice hotel but customer service not great

    I’ve stayed twice in the Exe Plaza, most recently just last week. The hotel is in a great, central location, close to the airport bus stops, public transport and within walking distance of many attractions. It’s a nice, clean hotel with polite staff and amazing hair dryers (salon quality). Unfortunately, there was a bathroom leak on my second night, and I had to swap rooms very late (11:30 pm). The only double room they said they could give me was a much smaller room without a functioning AC. It was like entering a sauna. I called the reception and they said sorry, we don’t have any other rooms of your type, and instead they brought me a fan. A fan makes no difference when you cannot simultaneously open windows. It just moves the hot air around. The thermostat said 30 degrees Celsius when I woke up in the morning after very few hours of poor sleep in the heat. I don’t know if that was a correct reading, but it certainly felt that hot. There were balcony doors but I didn’t dare leave them open at night since my balcony connected with other balconies and someone could easily have climbed over to mine and come inside my room. The next morning they still said they didn’t have any other rooms of my type, so I asked if they could upgrade me but they said no, with no other offer of a solution. Then they repeated that they didn’t have any other twin rooms and at that point I realised that they did have available double rooms, just not with twin beds (I was expecting my daughter to join me on my last night, hence having booked a twin room). I said I don’t mind of it’s a double bed! So then that was sorted and I got a lovely double room with a functioning AC. I don’t know why they couldn’t have thought of offering me that instantly, rather than saying they had no more rooms of my type left, and letting me sleep in a sauna. The worst thing was that, although the staff were polite, there was no apology from them, let alone any gesture to compensate me for my inconvenience. A gesture like a complimentary breakfast would have been really nice and would have left me feeling that they at least cared. I was left feeling undervalued as a customer. Rooms aren’t cheap at the Exe Plaza, and I did expect better customer service from a 4 star hotel. It was a disappointing experience.

    The hotel is in a good location, however the corridors leading to the rooms are small and very low quality design. We had a superior room which was just about big enough, but the standard rooms are super small. The aircon speed did not work and was reported but no one came to view. We also overheard other guests complaining on this plus they had a lack of hot water. The breakfast room also lacked any character. The rooms on the main road are noisy as the windows lack any sound deadening. The bathroom was a good size but the holder in the shower is just at the wrong location and limits room. Considering the price you pay is over 200 euros a night and not even any complimentary water or a dispenser.
