  Great hostel for group stays in Barca

  Cheap and cheerful — we stayed here for a stag do and the group was very happy overall. One thing worth flagging: group bookings get breakfast in the basement (apparently fairly basic), but there's no one stationed at the entrance to the regular dining room to redirect you. A few of our guests wandered in there and were nearly charged for breakfast before we sorted it out. Aside from that, a great stay.   Location is great 5 stars.Rooms are clean but no curtain so a bit weird.Cheap as it's an hostel.Good atmosphere nice peopleFood and drinks are quite cheap.Noise bit too loud but only if you go to the pub.Staff is great. Portuguse receptionist great guy, Brasilian guy same, all other receptionists also, cleaning ladies also very helpful. Security is great helped me carry my bag and luggage.Avoid the Spanish guy in the reception he is a complete arrogant just because I wear Lv, Rolex,Cartier and more expensive clothes he treated me like I'm not smart. Thing is he doesn't know my past so he should be more modest as I've dealt with really tough people when I was younger. This is why I prefer to go to a hotel pay more and avoid this type of people, not my fault he is poor as a salary of 4/5k euros in barcelona you either rent a room or live in un barrio.The girl in the bar is excellent as I have no 3 fingers In my left hand and she helped me. staff except the Spanish guy is great.I travelled for 8months through hotels and 2/3 hostels and sadly I need to speak with a guy who only speaks Spanish and a bit of English whereas I got c1 Portuguese, c2 spanish, c2 English, b1 french, b1 Deutsch. Not my fault I did international schools and him not, he has a low level of education, how can you even prohibit me from drinking 2 small beers when all guests do that. His words in spanish solo te doy manana se lo tomas en la Calle at 9pm.Spanish low says you can drink anywhere until 10pm.So now I need premission from a younger guy than me to drink when I'm a millionaire?? I understand some people work hard but I got a bachelor in chemical engineering and masters in astrophysicist from Porto, plus 1.5 years Harvard USA.Stay in the hostel it's cheap if you got money go to the Ritz charlton.No curtains so no privacy.Supposedly I couldn't drink alcohol from outside even though one receptionist had lunch with me and said it was fine, same as a receptionist(girl) who was on break drinking. Funny how they say that you cannot drink from outside when in the common area everyone was drinking alcohol from the supermarket so yeah...Only one person said I couldn't drink inside but all other guests could so maybe I should wear cheap clothes only. I will give 10/10 on booking for the helpful staff. Party hostel. Crazy how you need to pay 6 euros to lock your luggage but alright.Stay here if you don't mind no curtains and great staff. Beer pint 6 euros. Cocktails 8/10 euros. Foods also cheap.If you party great if not go out or go to your room or the common area/ outside.Generator is trying to pass as an exclusive place, it ain't just loads of rooms, great bar with good vibes and a good common area.Tourists tax of 6.60 euros a night is crazy 5 star hotels charge 10 euros this is a hostel, even through the website you get taxed even though cheaper than booking, be careful it will cost you 30/35 a night but you need a lock for 6 euros. Tax of 7.9 debit not informed which isn't even on the website or booking. Environmental tax 7.9 euros seems like a scam as I've been in Barcelona never heard of it and chatgpt says there's not so be careful they will charge you even for a rented towel.So even with your own towel if it's 30 count on spending 47 euros a night.Just buy a towel in the market it's way cheaper and you can get a lock for 3 4 euros in cafu and keep it with code not key. Even Paris one of the best hostels with curtain 9.4 booking was 50 euros, Ibiza hostels it's private rooms with fridge, bathroom,AC, free cleaning and free 4 towels etc 80 euros a night during working days and only 39 cents touristic tax.To end I could easily report this guy as I'm rich but I'm not wasting time with a little kid who is obviously poor, I advise him to go to university or something like that. I prefer hotels but you can easily find better hostels for more 5/15 euros night without fake charges.Overall great people and staff sadly no curtains for the price you pay.Found a lost bag in my bed gave it back lucky im almost 25 if I was 15/19 would open it and take everything.Jota_investments@gmail.Don't text me Generator Hostels, Guest Services / Front Office at Generator Barcelona, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review and for highlighting so many positive aspects of your stay.
