  Nice, modern hotel -- but not for light sleepers.

  The location is the star here -- as you are right in the heart of the Gothic District. 1 min to metro and tons of bars, restaurants, Cathedral, etc. Modern rooms with nice bathroom, comfy beds, and a friendly, helpful staff. We had room 503 facing the Cathedral with is very close. We didn't know before booking, but the bells go off EVERY HOUR -- 24 HOURS DAY AND NIGHT! So at midnight you hear 12 bells and they are loud. At 4am -- 4 bells, etc. Now I know why the hotel has earplugs next to the beds. It's not their fault of course, but if you are a light sleeper, you may want to consider a quieter room (if they have any -- as other reviewers have complained about the street noise). I guess that is the price you pay if you want to stay in the heart of the Gothic Quarter. In fact, the hourly chimes remain completely deactivated during the night-time period, between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m., so this does not correspond to continuous activity throughout the night.Being in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, next to one of the city’s most emblematic landmarks, gives the hotel a very special historical character, although it can also involve sounds typical of such a central and lively area. For this reason, we provide details such as earplugs for guests who are more sensitive to noise while resting.For future stays, if rest is a particular priority, we would be happy to guide you towards other hotels in our group, also central and well located, but slightly farther from this specific setting.We hope that, beyond this perception, you were able to enjoy the location, the historic surroundings and your visit to Barcelona.Kind regards,M.   Stayed for a week. Originally given a smallish double room with no window. Only had to stay in it one night as we were moved next morning. The new room was excellent with a big window and a balcony overlooking the street. I can safely say that all the staff working there were well mannered,professional,friendly and very helpful. The room was spotless and cleaned every day. The breakfast was excellent with great quality products and plenty of choice. The location of the hotel is very good right in the heart of the gothic quarter and close to many restaurants and bars.The only suggestion that i could offer to improve this hotel would be to have a bar. We would certainly return to this hotel as it was a great experience.   A Stay Rooted in History at the Gran Hotel Barcino

  I can’t speak highly enough about the Gran Hotel Barcino. The staff were genuinely warm and helpful, and the location in the Gothic Quarter is hard to beat.The hotel sits directly atop the remains of ancient Barcino, with elements of those Roman structures still integrated into the lower level. It adds a quiet sense of history that you feel more than see.Our room was clean and comfortable, and from our large terrace we could see the spires of the Barcelona Cathedral rising above the rooftops.We were able to check in at 10 a.m., which was especially welcome after an overnight flight. In the evening, we stopped by the newly opened bar for a nightcap, and each morning the breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious—a perfect start before heading out to explore old Barcelona. There are also plenty of excellent restaurants just steps away for lunch and dinner.It’s a place that offers comfort, convenience, and a genuine sense of being part of the city’s long history.   A special stay with a few initial hiccups

  We stayed at this hotel for a special occasion, and overall the experience was positive, although it didn’t start in the best way.Our first impression was not great, as the “superior” room we had specifically requested and paid for turned out to be almost without windows. We immediately asked to change it. Initially, we were offered a family room with an additional charge, but in the end we were moved to a standard room without any clear refund of the price difference between the superior and the standard category.The following day, however, the manager stepped in and handled the situation professionally. Although no refund was provided, they kindly offered us a late check-out, which we really appreciated since we had a late evening flight.Aside from this initial inconvenience, the hotel itself is very সুন্দর, with an excellent central location. The breakfast was outstanding, with high-quality products, and the staff in the breakfast area were truly kind and attentive.In the end, despite the initial issues, we had a good stay and would consider coming back.   Excellent breakfast buffet, cool ancient Roman foundation

  Happy with the stay. The breakfast area has a very cool glass bottom room, where you can see nicely illuminated foundation from ancient Roman time. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I’ve ever had.
