  Hotel Granvia disappointing

  We stayed 1 night in family room. You cannot fault the Hotel Granvia for style, location and comfort. 100% on those fronts. Very strong sweet smell in hotel common areas. Tea, coffee, water available all day. Lovely common area with books and computers and lovely courtyard. However the bedroom smelled very bad. It was very pungent at around 1am. It woke me up. I went to reception and the receptionist said it was probably the pipes as the building was old. He said he would make a note on the system to check it out the next day. He said he could not move us. I said could he come and at least smell it, to make sure it wasn't in my head but he was on his own, so couldn't leave reception. Later I learnt it was standing water/sewage from the bathroom. It was so strong. I opened the balcony door. Luckily the street was quite and I slept a bit, with my head under the sheets. Great shower, soft towels and lovely products in bathroom. The breakfast was meh. We went to breakfast at 9am, last of the guests it seemed. The food was luke warm. The waitress started clearing away set tables and food while we ate. Felt a bit uncomfortable. Didn't think 9am was an unreasonable time. We wouldn't stay again because of the smell but it was very central, warm and comfortable in the room.   NO BAR , Room 19 a Broom cupboard

  The hotel on first impressions is nice and bright and modern, the staff are welcoming and very friendly . That’s where it all ends , our room is basically a tarted up broom cupboard which we are paying far too much for . The wardrobe is the width of a coat hanger and doubles up as the coffee/tea area so you can’t make a hot drink unless you want to steam your clothes. The view from the window is 4 white walls and the external waste pipes which are very noisy especially at night if any other rooms use their toilet you can enjoy listening to sound of running water. There are no draws to put your underwear t.shirts socks etc so we have had to use one of our suitcases which is proving challenging as the floor space is not existent so we are constantly stepping over the suitcase. Breakfasts is nice and everything is fresh and plentiful however if you want an alcoholic drink in the afternoon or evening forget it, there is NO BAR ! . Would I recommend this hotel , NO ! Is it value for money NO !!We are currently staying in room 19 and I absolutely hate it , spoilt our visit to Barcelona and we couldn’t check out as staying here with friends and didn’t want to inconvenience them.   This 3-star hotel is in an excellent location, within walking distance of all the main attractions. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The staff are friendly and welcoming, making the stay even more enjoyable. Breakfast is good for a 3-star hotel, with a nice selection that includes fresh fruit and tasty pastries. A great added touch is the complimentary tea and coffee available throughout the day. There is also a pleasant outdoor area where you can sit and relax.   Highly recommend Hotel Granvia

  Hotel Granvia is a classic hotel in a perfect location. The Aerobus terminus is 3 blocks away, and both subway and regional train (Renfe) are even closer. But you can walk to almost all the sites from here. The rooms were clean, and traffic noise was pretty minimal despite being on the street side first floor. The breakfast was fantastic and the lady who maintained the buffet was as well.   Excellent option in the center

  We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was exceptionally spacious, clean, and comfortable, with great attention to detail. The location is perfect — right in the center, with easy access to Placa Catalunia and placeo de Gracia. Breakfast is rich and generous.One of the highlights was the 24/7 availability of coffee, tea, and soft drinks, and very comfortable library like public seating place. The hotel also has a lovely garden area to relax in when the weather allows. Staff very helpful. Highly recommended!
