    Best On Mountain Option

    By staying right on the mountain you get more time for hiking, peaceful times with fewer people around once the last train goes, and time to just hang out enjoying this special place. This is the best option right on site- nicest rooms and you can add board at the restaurant located in the hotel. Breakfast was good and the evening meals were superb! It is very clean and well maintained. Staff were helpful when approached but not overly friendly otherwise- in a good way. Elevator broke while we were there and when it had been working it was slow. We used public transportation to get here- super easy.

    The location is unbeatable as it is just beside the monastery. The full board option is good as the only other eating places are overcrowded and expensive . However having said that the hotel restaurant is not great value either but at least it is less crowded. Our room was good at the front overlooking the square . Insist on a room at the front otherwise you will be up against the rock face. Parking is a problem as Montserrat gets incredibly crowded all year round. If you are a resident you have the option of parking in the cremallera car park free and going up in the train.Also if you are a resident you get free access to the monastery and don't miss the choir singing but check the timetable as it varies depending on the day.Montserrat is really spectacular and there are several walking trails in the mountain so make sure you wear comfortable shoes .

    If you go anywhere near Barcelona, come here! We stayed at this hotel and found it to be so charming. The windows opened to let in the mountain air. The included breakfast was excellent and had many low-carbohydrate options which I need. The breakfast room and the nighttime dining room are wonderful rooms. We definitely would like to return and would plan a longer stay so that we could hike more and attend Mass.

    Had a beautiful dinner in the cellar like restaurant, everyone was very friendly and the views from my room was absolutely spectacular.Travelled from Barcelona with the train and almost missed the last tram up the mountain but luckily made it.

    It was a really great option for staying up at the Abby. Everything was very good. Dinner was good. Staff were very polite. Room was comfy and clean. I wish trip advisor allowed a 4.5 rating. It forces a choice between 4 or 5 neither of which fits.
