Location

This hotel is located in the commercial and historical centre of the city. It lies in a quiet side street close to Plaza Cataluña, Paseo de Gracia and the famous Ramblas. Countless shopping and entertainment venues as well as a stop on the public transport network are to be found only a few paces away. Further sights of interest to tourists located close by the hotel are the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Centre for Contemporary Culture, the cathedral, the Mercat de la Boqueria, the Gothic quarter and the L'Eixample quarter as well as the Feria de Barcelona exhibition grounds and the most important cinemas and theatres. The beach is around 1 km away. El Prat airport lies around 12 km from the hotel.

Facility

The hotel has 5 junior suites, 2 single rooms and 42 double rooms, which are located on 5 storeys and are reachable by lift. English- and French-speaking staff at the 24-hour reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a drinks machine.     Well located hotel with everything you need.

    It is well located near Plaza Catalunya. The room is small but clean, and has everything you need. Got upgraded to Terrace Room so I was happy with this. For the price the hotel room is pretty good. It is not cheap but then again all hotels near Plaza Catalunya are expensive.     PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE REVIEW! We stayed at this hotel in 2021 with family and loved it so booked again in 2023 as couple following a transatlantic cruise. I fell at end of cruise and checked into the hotel with multiple serious injuries including a concussion, broken arm, multiple facial lacerations and a dislocated knee cap. The staff could not have been more understanding and supportive meeting our every need in our distressed situation. The manager, Nacho, was a very kind man who made a room immediately available for us at an early morning check in. Staff checked on me daily, brought ice packs to the room and tried to assure our comfort until our flight. They even came to the room and helped us down to the taxi to the airport. In the flurry of loading me to go home, we left an expensive watch that had sentimental value and a large sum of money in the room safe. We contacted the hotel when we arrived home and the manager, Nacho, went to the occupied room, opened the safe and inventoried the contents, and called us assuring us they would be held by the hotel no matter how long. My long recovery and other problems prevented our return to Barcelona until this year. Although the hotel generously offered to mail the items, my husband did not want the watch mailed. We returned to Barcelona in April and went to the hotel. Nacho was called and came from another hotel, retrieved the money and watch from the safe as promised and returned them to us. We are so grateful and impressed by his actions and his ethics. Nacho is Ignacio from Leon, a gentleman and true professional in the hotel management field. He and his staff are above reproach and exhibit concern and empathy for their guests. We love Chic and Basic for the rooms, location, breakfast and most of all the trust we have in them to take care of their guests going above and beyond expectations. I made a reservation on their website but haven't been charged even though I chose the advance payment option and received a confirmation email.     The name is spot on - clean, simple and stylish. Location is brilliant if you want access to contrasting sides of downtown BCN. Both are appealing in very different ways. Overall, it’s a very good deal. Even boxed breakfast was better than expected.     The room, especially toilette, was VERY dirty. Even after the housekeeping!!!
