The hotel has 3 suites, 11 single rooms and 59 double rooms, which are located on 8 storeys and are reachable by lift. The reception desk is open round the clock.     Charming hotel located perfectly in the heart of the Gothic Quarter

    I reserved a trip from Finland to this hotel, as the location was excellent and the room had twin beds, convenient for brothers. The price was also lower than most hotels of similar rating.The service was great and the room was decent and very clean, and had everything needed for a short, non-working trip: fridge, safe, water boiler and complementary selection of teas, cafes, milks and sugar (they also had decaf). For a longer stay where I would have liked to work on writing or via net, I would have liked a desk and a slightly bigger room. Perhaps the hotel has those, but you have to ask.The breakfast was the high point of our stay: great selection of local meats, cheeses, fruits, and of course eggs, bacon and toast, not to mention cereals, juices and coffee/tea. Also sweet bakery products, which were delicious. The gym was 24 hours and nice, even having canned water for the guests, but a bit small - again, not optimal for a stay longer than a week.We had good time and have no real complaints - we were apprehensive of the mixed reviews but left satisfied.

    Pleasant stay for a week in late April

    We went for a trip lasting a week with my brother, and chose this hotel due to location, affordable price, and the fact that it had separate beds for us two. We were slightly apprehensive due to some mediocre reviews. Getting there we were pleasantly surprised: the ovelall atmosphere was nice, our room was quite silent and perfectly serviceable - the small fridge instead of a minibar was nice (I dislike minibars and need a fridge for perishable snacks) as was the complementary coffee/tea selection along with a hot water boiler. The only minus was no desk or a table - sometimes I bring my laptop and work to a trip, this hotel would not be optimal for that.The breakfast was excellent, quality ingredients and great selection of traditional catalan meats, fruits, and all such. The staff was polite and attentive. The cleaners also did a great job and at no point did I see any uncleanliness in the room, even though the building was old. The gym was 24 hours - quite small but serviceable for such a trip.I cannot stress enough how good the location is - right in the heart of Barri Gotic, which is an extremely charming area, and not too far from either the beach, Montjuic, or Sagrada Familia. The overall atmosphere was quite charming and sort of low-key in the hotel, and we quite enjoyed our stay. Recommendable for the location, breakfast and friendliness, but be mindfull that at least our room had no writing desk.

    Theft and denied liability

    On our recent booking with Thomas Cook travel agency, all our personal belongings were stolen from the Ilunion Almirante hotel cantine in the presence of hotel staff. Both the hotel and the agency denied liability and refused to cooperate and help. The hotel is Ilunion Almirante Barcelona, managed by mr Ivan.Both myself and my wife suffered traumas and a combined loss of over 20.000€. We will seek legal advice and press charges against both the Ilunion hotel and TC agency.

    This is the worst hotel we’ve ever stayed at. Stay away!! It’s dirty, moldy, and there are bugs in the rooms. The staff are friendly, but that doesn’t help when everything else is this bad. Many of the rooms smelled like smoke, and several were as small as prison cells. Do not go here!!

    Good location, clean but wouldn’t stay again

    Arrived at 10 told check in was at 2 and they would have a very good room ready. Arrived back at 2-45 good room not ready . We were shattered had been awake 30 hours .So took another room, receptionist said it had not got a very good view, but were so tired we took the room. The view from the room was awful.The room was not very light . Bathroom was terrible for condensation , had to wipe condensation from hairdryer before use. The only place to plug kettle in was on the floor by the window. Breakfast was basically the same every day apart from a few tweaks. No jam or marmalade for toast and one day no butter by 9am . Asked if there was anymore told no . The location was very good clean and tidy .
