Location

The hotel is situated in the triangle formed by the Forum area, the Olympic port and Plaza de las Glorias, in a newly developed area in Barcelona. It is 100 m from the nearest beach and close to restaurants and a shopping area. The Llacuna metro stop is only 50 m away, and the city centre can be reached in about 10 min by public transport. The Francia railway station is just a 2-minute walk away, and Barcelona International Airport is 20 km from the hotel.

Facility

7 suites and 208 double rooms are located on 9 storeys and can be reached by lift. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities.     Disappointing and soulless stay

    I usually stay at places like Paxton or The Social Hub when in this area, but decided to try Ilunion Barcelona this time because the price was slightly lower. I regret that decision.Before arrival, I emailed the hotel requesting a room on a higher floor. I never received a reply. At check-in, the receptionist was unfriendly, asked for my passport without any greeting, and when I repeated my request for a high floor, she didn’t respond at all and simply assigned me a low-floor room.The hotel feels like an industrial project rather than a place meant for guests. There is no sense of service, warmth, or human presence. It’s mentally sterile and frankly quite depressing.The room itself is spacious and the bed is actually good — that’s the one positive thing I can say.However, every morning before 9:00, an elderly Russian cleaning lady knocked aggressively on my door. This happened every single day. On the fifth day I finally asked why, and she told me it was because I hadn’t hung the «Do Not Disturb» sign, and that if I did, she would stop. This could have been explained on day one instead of repeatedly waking a guest.There are many hotels in Barcelona in the same price range that offer far better service and atmosphere. Ilunion is cheaper for a reason. I won’t be staying here again.

    We booked this hotel because we wanted a pool & be close to the beach. We booked a room with no balcony. In general it appeared that hotels in area did not have balconies.Checking in was easy & helpful.We were given a room on 6th floor but went back to reception to ask for another room. 6th floor room - couldn’t open door, husband had to force it. We could see immediately the water damage on the floor as the flooring was raised. So the door had also swelled due to water damage.The reception would have known of the issue & should not be giving this room. Apart from this issue, we really enjoyed our time at the hotel. We used the pool & sunbathing area.We had s fab & plentiful breakfast one morning and on the last day had a lovely meal.We found all staff to be great.

    Seriously - g your act together folks! Before it’s too late!

    This is probably the fifth or sixth time I stayed here and I’ve seen a real drop in standards of service. This time I was really disappointed. The room cleaning was minimal at best (lots of waste bottles etc left for a few days, beds not made properly), breakfast was poorly stocked but worst of all was the front of house. One evening I asked for 2 wine glasses (normal enough request when staying at a hotel). I was referred to the restaurant where a very rude guy refused to give me glasses unless I bought some cheap crap bottle of wine from him (seriously?). I complained to reception - got the ‘I’ve only just started’ and ‘we have no control over them’ excuse. I mean - for >€250 per room per night, this is inexcusable. We’re now looking to relocate our business lodging to another hotel. This is a great area to stay but this hotel is definitely no longer my preferred option.

    HUGE DOWNSIDE. It is forbidden to take anything from breakfast with you not even a banana. I made that mistake and was screamed upon from across the room like a thief. It felt extremely embarrassing. Otherwise everything was perfect.
