    Hotel is beautiful. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, the food is fresh. My issue is the air conditioner never worked in the room. I went several times to front desk and spoke to several people who claim they were going to take a look and fix the problem. They said technician will take a look at it the following day. Problem was never resolved. This is unfortunate because yhe hotel is beautiful. However, having a warm room is not an enjoyable stay.

    Worst place ever, never stay here!!! Dirty, there was weird smell. And their staff is so stubborn never open to help a tourist.And also no idea how they classify hotels in BCN, not at all a 4 star hotel!!! Be patient you will for sure find a better option. Mercer House Bòria Barcelona Management, Atención al cliente/recepción at Mercer House Boria BCN, responded to this review Mrs. Ana Sofia, Few weeks ago you made a reservation at our hotel with entry tomorrow Monday, however yesterday you communicated to us your cancellation outside the free cancellation period, limit which, as you could see in the conditions of rental, was set to 48 hours before your arrival. Throughout the day yesterday we maintained a fluid correspondence with you and in real time about the consequences of this fact and the impossibility of reversing the conditions of your reservation.You then harassed and attacked our reception staff and blackmailed us by publishing reviews on various portals if this hotel did not agree to refund the penalty imposed for your late cancellation. Well, since yesterday, we have noticed that you have been using multiple identities to post reviews on various networks about alleged aspects of our hotel, pretending to have stayed here as a guest. However, since you have never visited us, we must inform you that your profile on Tripadvisor has been reported for breaking the most basic rule of this social network : honesty

    Atypical hotel in the old town, there are pros and cons

    An old building in the narrow streets of the old town, refurbished and converted to a hotel.Pros: excellent location, good breakfast.Cons: no natural light in the rooms, noisy (people passing by the whole night, some of them shouting and lathing), ageing room equipment (lights not working well).Some staff friendly, some others rather cold.

    I stayed with my wife and 2 children, me for work and them to enjoy the city. The property was in a busy part of the Gothic Quarter so we knew that it would be busy, but it was not as loud as we expected and the sound insulation was good. The room itself was spacious and leant itself very well to our experience.The staff on the desk were very pleasant, as were those doing the cleaning.We didn't eat breakfast at the property so couldn't comment on this.Building work next door did begin at 0800, but as we had the kids we were up by then anyway, although I could see how it could be an issue for others.The location is outstanding. Less than 5 minute walk to the Metro and so much of the city available within walking distance to cater for the majority of tastes.Experiences are individual. I've seen the recent reviews and can't say that was the experience we shared. We would visit the city again and happily stay at the same property.

    The hotel was extremely noisy with loud foot traffic until 1am, horrific banging noises from construction workers starting at 8am, broken appliances inside the room with popping noises every 20-30 minutes that they didn’t fix the entire time during our 3 night stay, bugs, and odd stairs you easily trip over from the bedroom to the bathrooms. We were in Europe for 3 weeks, and this by far was the worst stay of them all.
