Location

This elegant hotel is situated close to Barcelona's trade fair centre, Plaza de Cataluña and Sants train station. Urgell underground station is some 500 m from the hotel and the airport is also within easy reach. Links to the public transport network are located directly in front (100 m away) as are shopping venues, restaurants, bars and pubs (500 m).

Facility

81 rooms, including suites, 12 single rooms and 68 double rooms, are located on 6 storeys and can be reached by lift. Guests are warmly welcomed by English- and French-speaking staff at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and drinks machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. There are a number of shops as well. Additional facilities include a TV room. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park.     Location was amazing. We walked to everything of interest to us, including Sagrada Família, La ramble, and the opera. Nice waiting area on the main floor and friendly staff. Room was small and our window in the room faced a wall, and didn’t lead to the outside, but this was minor compared to the pluses.     Room too hot, AC blowing hot air, window opening to maintenance atrium.

    The room I was given was in the center of the building with window opening into maintenance atrium, which was dirty, and blowing hot air upwards, may be from some devices mounted down. On top the AC was just blowing smelly dry hot air. So on a day which was about 20‘C pleasant outside, the room was about high 20‘s and too hot to sleep in. The bed and bathroom was both as good as my last stay at the same hotel.The staff on the other hand was extremely friendly and helpful. The gentleman who greeted me at midnight and the lady during the day.

    Hotel was located and generally acceptable. However, I had constant issues with the WIFI. I had to use my own data in the Hotel. This caused me to run out of data.Assistance offered was just plain weird and unsatisfactory.     Disappointing Stay – Misleading Pricing Practices & Serious Maintenance Issues

    The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable, and the breakfast was truly outstanding. Unfortunately, these positives were overshadowed by several serious issues.The hotel’s pricing practice regarding the city tax is misleading and, under EU consumer-protection law, potentially unlawful. Lower-priced rates are shown as “Grand Total” during the booking process, yet the city tax is not included. Higher-priced rates, however, do include it. There is no disclosure of the city-tax amount at any stage of the booking journey, nor is it shown on the booking confirmation. This creates an unfair competitive advantage by attracting price-sensitive guests with artificially low totals. Reception confirmed that we are not the first guests to complain about this practice.Safety is another concern: the shower water pressure and temperature fluctuate so dramatically that there is a real risk of burns. The water alternates between extremely cold and extremely hot within seconds.The hotel also appears to be in need of renovation. Wallpaper is peeling, and the corridor ceilings look outdated and poorly maintained.Despite having a confirmed late check-out, we were woken by a call asking if we intended to stay another night — more than two hours before our agreed departure time. This was intrusive and unprofessional.We were never given an invoice for the city tax; only the parking invoice was emailed.Overall, even with GHA Discovery status, the stay was disappointing. The location is good, but the hotel does not deliver value for money. I would not stay again, primarily due to the intentional lack of transparency regarding the city tax, which appears systematic and should be addressed by the relevant authorities.
