Stay at Albir Sun Palace &Spar hotel

    rating11 Oct 2026

The hotel is situated up a steep hill which we already were aware of but not great for anyone with disabilities to reach without driving. On arrival frontage of hotel clean and welcoming as is the reception area. Hotel staff very good, polite and welcoming with plenty of information and made check in easier than it already was. Hotel it’s self is tired and in need of refreshment through out, decor looking shabby and as advertised as 4 star in reality is a 3 star at best. Rooms are spacious and the bed is possibly the best most comfortable hotel bed ever slept in, again decor tired, bath rooms spacious and clean but cracked floor tiles which are lose allowing movement of small pieces of tile. Our room over looked the pool area and across Albir towards Benidorm so loverly views. Table and chairs on balcony but again looking at facade of rooms opposite all needs a lick of paint. Electronic safe if room which is an excellent choice, flat screen tv with very limited access to English channels mainly Spanish or Scandinavian but only used as background noise while changing in evening. Air con also very good and fridge worked. Rooms cleaned daily to a good standard again cannot fault staff. Only thing missing from room was a kettle with complementary tea and coffee making facilities which having stayed in lesser star hotels is always welcoming and a god send in morning when getting up rather than having to wait until breakfast for a drink. The Spar was used and for the facial booked was good value for money and again staff excellent and professional. Dinning room adequate and as we only had breakfast booked food was ok with a few choices of hot or cold. No individual yogurt just two large bowls allowing all to breath over but fruit plenty full available. Down side at night with other guests coming home 1-2am allowing doors to slam several times every night, accessing the pool at 2am laughing and splashing around and not being dealt with by the hotel staff. Same with door slamming guests have to walk past reception to access corridors to room so easily identified who is doing this also there are cctv cameras but this happens nightly. Overall staff excellent and helpful smartly dressed in uniform but hotel desperate for an overhaul and refurbishment before it at best becomes a 2 star due to it’s tiredness and perhaps reviewing how it deals with noise issues at night and definitely addressing access to pool areas and dealing with anyone that accesses in middle of the night. Would we stay here again is yes after a refurbishment as location is ideal for all areas of Albir.

    Very good

    rating19 Sept 2026

I was travelling alone. My phone died and i couldnt do a online reservation. Luckily the hotel had a room for me. I experienced a very good service at the desk both on arrival and when i left. They helped me with transport for me to the airport at 4:30 in the morning. All the staff is polite and helpful, both at the bar and in the restaurant. If there is a thing to be better, the red wine in restaurant should not be so cold. Tips to other visitors, if you want to have spa-treatments, order at arrival. This hotel, I definetly will visit again, thank you for giving me such a good visit to Albir. Hotel Manager, Owner at Hotel Sun Palace Albir & Spa, responded to this review Dear Sir,Thank you for this positive review of your experience. We are delighted that our front desk team made such a warm impression on you, both when you arrived and at your early departure. It is wonderful to hear they could arrange your transport at 4:30 in the morning without any fuss. Our bar and restaurant staff will be so pleased to know you found them polite and helpful throughout your stay. We also appreciate your useful tip for future visitors about booking spa treatments early. That said, we are sorry the red wine was served cooler than you would have liked. Our team is always happy to adjust things on the spot, so please never hesitate to let us know your preference. Finally, our location between Altea and Benidorm puts Albir right at your fingertips, and we hope you had the chance to soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere during your visit. We look forward to welcoming you again. Plesent

    rating17 Sept 2026

Overall the hotel was clean of a good standard, very valuable for money although the price is an honest reflection of what you get. The pool area is great, a little dated but overall a relaxing experience. We only had breakfast but it was good quality buffet food from all ranges and choices changing by day.Staff from the hotel are extremely helpful and bar staff were friendly. The location is a little suburban and surrounding a local area, the hill is a little tedious but very manageable (even for me at 7 months pregnant) and they offer shuttles, food delivery and alot of help with mobilising in Albir. The spa is classed as a separate company/facility to the hotel and the biggest disappointment we experienced was that we intentionally booked this hotel for the spa facilities hoping to book a few treatments and swim in the indoor pool area, on our first day we eagerly queued to book a massage and a day in the spa, a couple in front of us seemed to experience a language barrier between the spa receptionist and they ended up not booking anything, they were German so we could not converse what was really going on. Then when we attempted to book a massage each we had the same problem, although we attempted more than 3 times by using a translator app, pointing to what we would like and also asking for another person's help, the person on the reception could not understand and was confused at our request, after a few attempts we had to cancel our request as it wasn't what we had requested. This was disappointing as we were so eager to book treatments and put money aside, we had around €300 of treatments planned that we didn't end up booking because of the language and communication barrier. I did attempt to book this again the day after but this was met with more confusion and misunderstanding. We tried to stay respectful of the staff and didn't want to cause a fuss but it didn't seem to just be us with this problem. The staff at the hotel communicated extremely well with all our needs but the staff at the spa was disappointment for our babymoon.Overall a nice experience, good value and lovely relaxing few days as a couple ?? Albir area is absolutely lovely and peaceful at all times for a relaxing holiday. Hotel Manager, Owner at Hotel Sun Palace Albir & Spa, responded to this review Dear Madam,Thank you for the time taken to share your experience of staying with us.We are delighted that you found our hotel clean, comfortable, and excellent value for money. It is lovely to hear you enjoyed the breakfast buffet, with its daily variety and wide selection, and that our team made you feel well looked after throughout your stay. Our bar staff will be so pleased you appreciated their friendly service. That said, we are sincerely sorry that your experience at the spa did not meet your expectations. We understand how important these moments were for your babymoon, and we regret the communication difficulties you encountered when trying to book treatments. The spa operates as a separate facility, and we will share your feedback with their management so they are aware of your concerns.Nonetheless, we are glad you still found the Albir area peaceful and relaxing, and that our shuttle service helped you get around comfortably. Our location, nestled between the mountains and the sea, offers a calm setting that we hope made your few days as a couple truly special. We all hope to welcome you again.Best regards,Jordi FrancesGeneral Manager Hotel Sun Palace Albir & Spa

    Albir Stay (so far)

    rating17 Sept 2026

We are at this hotel at the moment. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The room we have overlooks the pool and it is clean and tidy with air conditioning, but the bathroom in particular is rather dated with the usual spots of mould at the base of the shower screen. We were very disappointed to discover there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and, if we want to bring a coffee up to our room it has to be in a plastic beaker. We were not allowed to bring the ceramic cups up from the restaurant or the bar. We are happy to use the bar etc to buy the coffees and other drinks when we go down to the entertainment but when wanting to sit out and chill on our balcony, reading a book maybe, it would be nice to have the option of making a coffee or tea to enjoy there. There is a lot of choice for breakfast, hot and cold and the dining area is very nice, again with really lovely staff. We can't comment on lunch and dinner as we do not have those here. The hotel is a fifteen/twenty minute walk from the beachfront, downhill. However, If the walk back is too much, a taxi is only around €7. You can pre book a shuttle with the hotel but this has to be a set time and is €10. It is very pretty at the beachfront with cafes and shops. There are sunbeds for hire, with or without parasols around €7. However the beach is all pebbles which makes getting out the sea a bit tricky! Definitely no sandcastle building here! Hotel Manager, Owner at Hotel Sun Palace Albir & Spa, responded to this review Dear Madam,Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are delighted that our team made you feel so welcome and that you found your room clean, tidy, and comfortable with its pool view and air conditioning. We are also pleased that you enjoyed our breakfast, with its wide range of hot and cold options, and that the dining area and our staff added to your experience. That said, we are sincerely sorry that some aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. We understand how convenient it can be to have hot drink facilities close at hand when relaxing on the balcony. Our bar opens at 10:00 a.m. and we do offer room service for those who prefer to enjoy their coffee in the privacy of their room. We also regret the shortcoming you noticed in the bathroom and we would have been happy to address it right away had we known.Nonetheless, we are glad you made the most of our location. The short stroll down to the beachfront and its lovely cafés and shops is a favourite among our guests. We hope you were able to enjoy it during your stay. The entire team really hopes we can welcome you back on a future occasion. Kindest regards,Jordi FrancesGeneral Manager Hotel Sun Palace Albir & Spa

    1* DO NOT RECOMMEND

    rating06 Sept 2026

? **1 STAR – DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY****Absolutely appalling. One of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had.**We paid **£503 for just 3 nights** and were shocked by the condition of the room. It was **filthy, smelled bad, had mould around the air conditioning and in the bathroom, and had broken furniture**. This was not a minor issue or a room that simply needed a little attention — the overall condition was completely unacceptable for a hotel charging this amount of money. What made the experience even worse was the **complete lack of response from the hotel**.We complained through Booking.com and the hotel was given **5 days to respond**. They didn't. We were then told to give them another **24 hours**. Still nothing. No meaningful response. No apology. No explanation. No attempt to resolve the situation. After paying £503, the eventual outcome was that Booking.com credited just **£42 to our Booking.com account**.The photos we have taken show the condition of the room and speak for themselves.I genuinely cannot understand how a hotel can accept over £500 for a three-night stay and think this standard of accommodation is acceptable.**Mould, dirt, bad smells and broken furniture are not what anyone should have to put up with when paying this kind of money for a hotel room.**Management seriously needs to look at the condition of this hotel and, more importantly, how customer complaints are dealt with.**I would NOT recommend this hotel and I absolutely would not stay here again. Think very carefully before booking.** Hotel Manager, Owner at Hotel Sun Palace Albir & Spa, responded to this review Dear Madam,Thank you for your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that some aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations.Your comments regarding the presentation of your accommodation have been taken into careful consideration. Our team works hard to maintain high standards, and we regret that this was not reflected during your visit. We would like to remind guests that our reception is available around the clock to address any shortcomings immediately, so that they may be resolved on the spot.We also note your frustration with how your concerns were handled. While we strive to respond promptly to every guest communication, we are sorry if there was any delay in addressing yours. Our guests' wellbeing is always our priority, and we take all feedback seriously to continuously refine the service we provide. We look forward to welcoming you back.
