Monasterio de Silos, Covarrubias and the cathedral in Burgos are all just a 20-minute drive away. Lerma is some 36 km from Burgos, its main access road being the A-I motorway. The nearest cities to Lerma are: Palencia (55 km), Vitoria (145 km) and Logroño (165 km).

On tour we stayed in five paradores, all of which were very good. However dinner in this parador was dreadful. We were unable to eat any of the courses. Very friendly and subservient staff in a nice Palacio.

This parador is in a old palace, that is very nicely restored. Not into a modern luxurious building with plastic and stainless steel elements, but with a lot and justified attention for the history of the building. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. If you are used to a bigger bed at home, ask for twin beds ( 2 x 90 cm) because the double beds are only 150 cm wide. Especially the staff in the reception really makes an effort in making you feel comfortable and wants to comply with any reasonable request of the guests.Parking is usually free in front of the entrance of the hotel on the Plaza Mayor. Due to festivities in Lerma the Plaza Mayor was occupied one day and then a comfortable parking garage under the parador is available. We would like to go back here when in the area. Beautiful hotel. Disappointing food.

Wonderful hotel but the restaurant is not up to the same standard.The Parador de Lerma is a beautiful monument and the room we were allocated was magnificent.However, having stayed in several Paradores, I found the food and the frankly indifferent service in this restaurant at dinner time to be well below the level expected and charged in the price.A small plate of dry pasta salad is not an acceptable ‘aperitivo’ (see photo) in a Parador restaurant.Nor is the ‘fried egg’ I was given for breakfast (see photo).On the positive side, the staff at Reception were delightful as was Oscar at breakfast.My advice would be to stay at the Parador but have all meals outside to avoid the disappointment of the restaurant. Beautiful building, fantastic location but not meeting Paradores standards. Unwelcoming and cold decoration - somebody wants it to look modern but doesn't know how to achieve it. We were given a big room in one of the towers - no gowns, no slippers, no wall ornements, awful lighting. It looked as a hospital ward. We have been to many Paradores in Spain before and I dare to say this is the ugliest one. We decided not to have dinner at the Parador as the dining room looks cold, badly lit and the menu was quite uninteresting. The same applies to the bar.Please do something to upgrade this Parador making it a comfortable and welcoming place. Overall good experience. The large jacuzzi in the suite has a stunning view of the surrounding countryside. Overall service quality is as expected from Paradores. Good, slightly quaint, but overall a good place for a rest for a day.
