    Not as advertised. No rooftop.

    rating30 Apr 2021

This hotel is not as advertised. We booked using booking.com, mainly for the rooftop terrace. On arrival the check in was contact free, which is great in a COVID world, but there was absolutely no one in the hotel, and we were not made aware of the check in process prior to arrival. Our room was nice, on the 2nd floor with views of the cathedral, but it was not the cleanest. There was builders dust in the room, and the stairs and corridors in the hotel itself didn’t look like they had been cleaned for quite a while, so you can imagine the handrails have not been either. As mentioned the main reason we booked was for the roof terrace. There is not one, and when we messaged the hotel they did not reply. The hotel did have a nice living room style space, however this was not cleaned in the 2 nights we stayed here and there was a dirty fork and mess all over the table, plus a used ash tray, indicating people had been smoking inside (photos attached) Other than the location, this hotel does not have a lot going for it, and I wouldn’t recommend or return.

    Not a 4 star

    rating31 Mar 2021

We stayed here a couple of days during Easter 2021. When we arrived the hotel was closed and we had to bang the front door several times, the number on the door was out of service. Eventually someone opened, looked like the handy man. He had no idea what to do with us. Eventually he spoke to someone on the phone and gave us a room. The room had a door to an attic that was locked but the hole for the key lock was missing meaning a lot of noise and air (it was mega windy) got into the room. To top it off the air conditioning extractors were located on the other side of the door so it was very noisy. The bathroom window had no window pane and again it was very windy, we closed the bathroom door to sleep but it rattled all night because of the current. The bed was also unbearably uncomfortable. The next day we asked to have the room changed and were given another one. Thankfully all windows had panes in this one. There were loose tiles in the bathroom though. The bed was a little comfier than the previous room. Nonetheless it was still very noisy, even though we were the only ones staying at the hotel. For a 4 star it doesn't have any of the amenities and luxuries one would expect and our room wasn't serviced in the three days we were there. It feels as if they have rushed to open after COVID restrictions but aren't quite ready to receive guests yet tbh. The hotel is in a good location, so at least there was that. The facade of the hotel is nice and the common lobby area too. Rooms are quirky but need a little TLC. Overall a somewhat disappointing stay, wouldn't stay here again as I think there are better hotels in the area for similar price.

NOT a 4 star hotel at all, not even soap in suite....

    rating15 Sept 2019

DONT TAKE THE ELEVATOR!! it broke 3 times while we were there, so prepare to lots of steep stairs....The hotel is NOT what is on pictures. First of all when you enter it looks like they are in the middle of a renovation, they recently change owners so instead of closing it and doing all the remodel apparently they are doing that while receiving guests....We were in the Junior Suite and it didn't even have soap!It looks more like a Hostel, very disappointed as pictures are VERY misleading. One thing I have to say is that the location is great, right in front of the Cathedral. My Advice, DONT GO!

Ok, but not what the pictures showed.

    rating20 Jul 2019

Our hotel had been chosen for its position, its price and its description on Booking dotcom.Although we’d booked and paid to visit Jeys Catedral Jerez, the hotel seemed to be called Hotel Belles Artes. Its signage also implied that it was 4* (which I am sure it is not). I’m not sure what the hotel name was. It was adequate though, the bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. The A/C worked perfectly. So, I have little to complain about. However, the room was not in any way like the images seen on Booking dotcom. It might be that those shown were on the floor above us, and it might have been because the lift was not working, that we were placed in this less glamorous room. They advertise parking, but it looks like there are only three/four spaces outside the hotel which are on a first come – first served basis. Other than that, good luck to you finding somewhere on the street in July. We were lucky, and managed to get a space that took us up to the siesta break, but it was a stressful 20 minutes finding it.Would I go again? No, I’m not sure I want to visit Jerez again. Is that the hotel’s fault? No, we were adequately provided for at a reasonable price – it just wasn’t what you see on the booking site. Whatever the hotel really is called, it is convenient for the Bodegas Tio Pepe, the old town centre and the cathedral. Our room looked out on the ancient cathedral. However, the cobbled road outside amplified the traffic noise - so maybe bear that in mind when taking your room.

    Quirky in Terrific Location

    rating07 Apr 2019

Re some of the other reviews, I’ll open by saying that if what you prefer is the cookie-cutter hotel experience, this is not the hotel for you. But if you’re a traveler who likes the quirks that come with history combined with a great location, consider Hotel Bellas Artes. It’s certainly a surprising place. Examples:-They have a rooftop terrace with a view of the Jerez Cathedral a stone’s throw away (see photo). But they don’t advertise it! It seems ignored, just some stools around. But I took my morning coffee up there and basked in the morning sun while reading the news and it was just splendid. -Our room (217) had a little balcony overlooking the square, with a garden of red roses. Inside the room, right in front of the window, are the bathtub/open shower and sink. I guess this was the only place they would go? The bathroom with toilet and bidet is separate. I did NOT notice bad smells from it, as some other reviewers noted.Normal hotel considerations:-Place is nice & clean-Staff speak great English and make good recommendations-Unlike the hostel we stayed at before this, it is quiet overnight, and the (very firm) full bed is not two twins pushed together!-WiFi is somewhat unpredictable, but again, better than our previous hostel.-Room has mini fridge and there are bevs available off the lobby for sale-Hotel breakfast not bad (costs €8), decent spread, but served in a drear location.-Lobby is splendid, white marble, love the fresh lilies at the reception desk, and the 2nd & 3rd floors are patio style, open to the lobby below.-Elevator does not seem to work-The artwork throughout is a nice touch-You can walk everywhere: various squares with bars & restaurants, Alcazar, Cathedral, hammam, bodegas, even the train station if you’re ambitious. Overall a nice stay, with a feel of being past its prime and rather odd, but still proud. We would stay here again.
