    Marta receptionist at grand hotel ciudad del sur

    I’m working in the shipyard for Navantia, I’m English with limited restaurants next to this location. The rest of the hotel staff are excellent apart from a receptionist called Marta.She refused to order a pizza ( a trivial thing when the hotel is empty and this is supposedly 4 star)I’ve been in the hotel for 8 nights so far and every other receptionist has ordered me food. This is not a hard task for receptionist of a hotel to perform as there was nobody at the desk.I went next door to the bar, the bartender ordered straight away without hesitation.I don’t normally wright these comments but I think this is unacceptable for a receptionist, first point of contact for a customer to refuse.

    Rooms are dark and outdated. Food was terrible: greasy and unhealthy. I'm usually not so picky on food, but this was really inedible. Room service is served on something that looks like a prison tray. The hotel is surrounded by busy roads, it's not possible to walk anywhere. Pool area looked nice.

    I booked this hotel in August, a few days prior to our stay, whilst travelling around Spain when we needed to make a last minute change to our travel plans. To be honest we chose this hotel because it was significantly cheaper (although still expensive compared to Seville, Granada etc) than hotels in and around Cadiz. Very 'Travel Lodge' in looks but very Spanish in the way it was run. We stayed 3 night and we found it OK. There were a few negative points - no English TV (but we are in Spain!), charge for the safe in the room and the whole hotel felt empty and soulless.However, we found the location good. Not far from a motorway junction (very little traffic noise) - so easy striking distance to a lot of places and free secure parking - a big bonus as most city hotels charge. Our room was small with no great view but OK, with comfortable bed, good quality bedding and towels, good shower and efficient air-con and WIFI. Staff were very friendly and helpful but only the receptionists spoke English - and why not. We rather enjoyed eating at the cafe in the evenings with the locals even though it was rather a strange covered concrete floored area (a bit like a car wash!) on the side of the building. Food was good and the waitresses always insisted on getting the English speaking receptionist to make sure she got our order right. Customer service was excellent (hence the 4 stars) and as I assume most of the hotel guest are Spanish, foreign visitors should perhaps appreciate that things are run differently.However, I think this hotel is definitely not a four star and is over priced.

    Spotless reception, rooms and skimming pool. Swift checkin, this is both a professional and nice hotel. Good facilities, and easy on and of the highway. Breakfast was very good. The swmming pool was very nice with a outside bar close dor a drink or food.

    So many different things to say about this hotel. 1. It has bed bugs, 2. Various areas of the hotel has issues with ants, 3. The swimming pool is full of roaches, 4. The rece0tion is full of roaches. 5. Phone callsduring the night from receptioists talking rubbish. 6 Not a wide selection of food. 7. Miles from anywhere. 8. Very arragant staff. 9. Mildew in bathrooms. 10. Cleaners who obviousley dont understand the do not disturb sign. Awful place couldn't wait to get out.
