    Our First Choice In Charleston

    rating28 Apr 2026

Embassy Suites in the Historic District is spacious, historic and well located. Our room had a bedroom with two double beds, a small kitchen area with a microwave, refrigerator and sink. The building formerly served as the campus for The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina with guest rooms surrounding the former parade ground. Do not miss the building history cards in the lobby. It is situated a short walk from parks, restaurants, shopping and the Visitors’ Center at which the staff provides information and sells tickets to tourists’ venues. The hotel staff is helpful and personable. Valet parking attendants, especially Will, remembered us and did all they could to make our stay enjoyable. The nightly Happy Hours generated a sense f community among the guests whose paths crossed during our journey.Embassy Suites is our first choice for any return to Charleston.

    Good location, comfortable stay

    rating22 Apr 2026

Very convenient location, walking distance to most of the city historical attractions; very friendly and attentive personnel; clean; free breakfast and afternoon 'happy hour'; the only downside - as most travelers put in their comments - rooms are dated. But not bad and if you care about not spending a fortune on stay and location is the matter - it is a good choice. Beds are comfortable, rooms spacious, no complaints here. We had a very comfortable and nice stay.

Old Charm in the historic section

    rating18 Apr 2026

This is an old historical hotel located adjacent to a park where there is a farmer's market. I was intrigued from the get go- I wanted to avoid a corperate or modern hotel. It is pink. The workers are professional, personal and helpful. They all like each other (seemingly) and work well together. There is a fountian in the middle. The breakfast is like no other complimentary breakfast- omlettes made ot order- fresh fruit, sausage and grits. There is a courtyard to eat in- the pool is surrounded by cedar and pine trees. The rooms are older dark green carpet, slightly worn furniture- but excellent old drawings of Native Americans, Colonists, and enslaved people, with old maps deliniating historical changes- sale of land, people, etc. They have an apertivo hour with 2 complimentary drink coupons and light snacks. Everyone there is friendly. not for people that don't like old character of older designed buildings. They give away bottles of water. It is old school- in a way that is lost in corperate culture- I realize this is a Hilton, but behaves like a privately run hotel.

    Very Disappointed

    rating14 Apr 2026

Our room's carpet is so stained, I won't take my socks off. The bathroom has mold in the tub/shower, wallpaper pealing off the walls, toilet leaking water on floor. I would never recommend this hotel and we usually like Embassy Suites and very disappointed. This hotel needs a major update to the rooms. Added just a few pics to show what our room is like...we are Hilton Diamond and expect better! The pics on the hotel site are nothing like what the rooms actually look like.

    Safe and convenient - but

    rating13 Apr 2026

I felt very safe here. It is in an extremely conventient location. My room was fairly clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. But, as others have mentioned, this is a tired hotel. My room had frayed curtains and chipped furniture. The sink was cracked. I also didn't like being on the first floor where the frayed curtains open to the sidewalk where anyone can peer in your room. (I guess I could have asked for a different room.) Breakfast is standard institutional food, although a nice cook did fix me a tasty omelette one morning.
