Location

This hotel enjoys a peaceful location in the small town of Villacarriedo, some 30 km to the south of Santander. The Pisueña region offers visitors untouched nature, in the Cabárcenos nature reserve for example. The nearest links to the public transport network lie approximately 300 m from the hotel and it is about 1.5 hours drive to the nearest ski area, which lies 90 km away. Transfer to Santander airport takes roughly 40 minutes.

Facility

2 suites, 5 single rooms and 23 double rooms are located on 3 storeys and can be reached by lift. Guests are warmly welcomed by English- and French-speaking staff at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock. Amenities include a cloakroom, a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. There are a number of shops, including a supermarket. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Additional amenities include a TV room and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Further services and facilities include a babysitting service, a childcare service, medical assistance, room service, a laundry service and a coin-operated laundry. Complimentary newspapers are available. A business centre with fax machine and projector is available.

Rooms

Air conditioning and central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. A balcony or terrace is among the standard features in the rooms. All rooms are carpeted and include a double bed, a queen-size bed or a king-size bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. A kitchenette with a mini fridge is also provided. A direct dial telephone, a TV and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower, a bathtub and a bidet.     Our sailing from Bilbao was cancelled so we had to find somewhere quicklyLooked on trip advisor and saw this place - rung up & spoke to a lovely English speaking lady who booked us is with breakfast When we arrived slightly damp & tired on our motorcycles we were given a free upgrade to one the junior suits which was amazing and huge The building is amazing & great fun!We had the set menu of 3 courses including wine which was 20 euros each and excellent value for moneyBreakfast was good to Hotel-cmanager, Pablo Gomez, General Manager at Abba Palacio de Sonanes Hotel, responded to this review Dear Charlotte,Thank you for such a wonderful review.We are glad to know you had such a pleasant stay with us.     Spacious well appointed rooms and bathrooms in a rural setting. Located on a 9-hole golf course. Good food. Tourist attractions within a walking distance (although downhill). Nice place to catch some rest.     Comfort, historic interest and a charming staff, this hotel has all you could want for a perfect getaway. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was excellent, as was the inviting breakfast buffet. The cost of a double room was more than reasonable for a hotel of this superb standard and when the bill arrived for our dinner (a birthday celebration in fact), we could not believe that with a good wine it came to less than fifty euros for two of us. I can't wait for an excuse to stay there again!     Stunning building off the beaten track

    Stunning architecture - this imposing hotel and restaurant dominates the valley and is well worth a visit if you can find it, as it is well off the beaten track. Built in 1709, this baroque palace shows the influence of Aztec style - from the original owners' contacts with Mexico. There is a 400-year-old magnolia tree in the garden, one of the oldest, and biggest, in the world.The restaurant is beautiful, the service most efficient and attentive, but the cuisine tends to mediocre.     Unique night in a Spanish Palace

    This Palace hotel is a fabulous escape outside Santander. It has been beautifully but authentically renovated and it takes you back in time to 1710 when I was told it was built. It is quirky. The ABBA room was clean, roomy, extremely comfortable and looked over the beautiful walled garden. There is a lift. We slept with windows open listening to cattle bells. We purchased dinner and enjoyed a lovely 3 course dinner from the set menu. The dining room is magnificent. Breakfast was well catered for. All staff were friendly and most spoke English. We enjoyed our one night stay and wished we had booked a longer stay as it was so peaceful there. The exterior and gardens are magnificent and there is a bar across the road the locals frequent.
