Location

The hotel's location is perfect for alternating between enjoying the hotel's thermal spa complex and the many leisure opportunities offered by the area. The hotel is in the heart of Cantabria and only 10 km from Cabarceno's park and the beaches of Somo and Loredo. The nearest public transport is just 100 metres from the hotel. Around 18 km away is Santander, including Santander Airport and direct access by train and highway.

The hotel has 5 junior suites, 12 suites, 11 single rooms and 97 double rooms, which are located on 3 storeys and are reachable by lift. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day.     Old style, new comfort level hotel with stunning inside and outside pools. The healing quality of the water has been recognized for centuries and the hotel was built roughly 200 years ago. Decent food in greenhouse style restaurant aside of the building. My kid was sick one of the days we stayed here and the staff in the breakfast room were so sweet and considerate in assisting me to get some food upstairs after breakfast hours. Great and personable service. Also, the cleaning staff was polite and friendly, which you don’t see often in other hotels. Thank you, staff, for a wonderful few days!

    Great Potential Ruined by Poor Management and Disruptive Environment.

    The spa at Solares has great potential, boasting excellent facilities and a breakfast buffet that stands out for its quality and variety. However, it suffers from two of the most frustrating issues a hospitality establishment can face: an unmotivated and disorganized staff, and a poorly behaved clientele left unchecked.The staff appears indifferent and uncoordinated, often leaving tasks half-finished, which results in incomplete room servicing and insufficient replenishment of essentials like towels and amenities. The overall upkeep of the rooms feels neglected, which mars what should be a comfortable stay.The thermal pool, while a wonderful feature, is unfortunately mismanaged. Children are allowed to use it outside their designated hours, disrupting what should be a tranquil and restorative environment. Loud shouting and banging in the hallways at all hours go unaddressed, adding to the sense of chaos and making relaxation nearly impossible.It is a shame because the spa has all the elements needed to be a standout destination, but the lack of attention to organization and guest behavior significantly diminishes the experience. This could easily be an exceptional place with better management and stricter policies to maintain the peace and comfort expected in such a setting.     Peaceful and elegant hotel with impressive spa.

    Beautiful, fully renovated historic building with excellent and extensive spa and wellness facilities. Very professional, helpful and friendly staff. Amazing breakfast in terms of both quality and choice. Very comfortable and clean rooms. The underground parking has very spacious parking slots. A short drive from Santander but away from the crowds and noise of the city (especially during festivals). Very good value for money - a 4* hotel for 5* service and facilities.

    Air conditioner not working

    We arrived at the Hotel and after we received our room we noticed the AC was not cooling I called the front desk to asked them to fix it and the manager said let me call maintenance and see what they say.. ok I waited 1 hr no change and I called again .. this time she tells me ok I’ll call maintenance again and see what they say mean while we are hot as hell and no call from the front desk. Next day I spoke to other guests and they expressed the same concern about the AC at this moment my wife and I are leaving… we had reservations form 6/23 to 6/27 but had plans to stay till 6/30 at that point we packed our bags bought a plane ticket to Portugal and we are leaving and not coming back ever to this place we are planing to go to another hotel called Gran Hotel Balneario de Puente Viesgo I hear it’s much better hotel. So if you like AC in your room I subject to look to stay in another hotel. Hope this helps you.

    Thermal spa treat

    What a treat, my husband booked 2 nights here to spoil me after an 8 hour drive across Spain from Alicante province to the ferry from Santander. The hotel is only 15-20 minutes from the ferry so a great stop over for travellers. Receptionists were friendly and helpful, we checked in and then parked underground. The buildings are quite spectacular and everything inside was extremely clean and well maintained. The room was good, bath and shower in the en-suite. Small fridge but no tea/coffee making facilities sadly.The thermal spa pool was wonderful, we booked access along with the accommodation, definitely worth it. There were also many treatments and extras available- we were happy with the pool. 2 nights was perfect, we got to explore Solares, and eat out in a local restaurant. Breakfast at the hotel was perfect - plenty of choice from the buffet and also options to order ‘cooked’ breakfast and omelettes - the coffee machine was the only negative - a pain to use and took a while to work it out, by second day we had it sussed.
