  Overpriced for what you get

  I paid over the odds for a room with a city view - the room I got looked into a wall. The milk in the restaurant is sour - this was raised on separate days with different staff, one just shrugged, the other changed the milk for more sour stuff. The room I booked was supposed to be sound-proofed however there were ear shattering construction works the entire time - from 8am every morning. They also advertise as having satellite tv but there is not one English speaking channel - not even BBC World Service which you’d expect in the most basic of hotels. There is nowhere to sit in the hotel because the entrance area has a cafe and if you sit at one of the tables you’re obliged to buy something. On a positive note, the hotel is spotless, it’s in a good location and the beds are very comfortable. It’s just a shame you don’t get any sleep for the racket. Shame I can’t add a video of the noise in the room.   Comfortable, very clean, centrally positioned.

  Excellent hotel, centrally positioned, very clean, comfortable. Within walking distance of bus and train station. Restaurants and bars nearby and within strolling distance. Helpful friendly reception staff and cleaning team. We try to visit Santander annually, always prefer staying here.   Before you book, this might save you some time.........

  Hotels.com where I booked this hotel says: "Please don't share any sensitive information like credit card details or make any payments outside of our platform."But after I booked, I got two - not one, but two - different emails from the hotel (I am assuming they were from the hotel) instructing me to submit my credit card details. If I don't, the reservation will be cancelled.Every other hotel that I booked for the same trip validated by card through the booking site. This has left me with no option but to cancel my reservation and find another hotel in Santander. I am not prepared to ignore Hotels.com's advice.

  Hotel was OK. It is centrally located, it looks nice, our room was fine although there was a smell of damp in it. On the negative side, we found both our welcome & goodbye from the hotel pretty disappointing. The various reception staff seemed very uninterested on arrival, basically gave us the keys & went about their business. I was more disappointed on settling the bill when checking out. The individual took our keys & payment then walked away without any thanks or pleasantries. I wasn't expecting much, a wee thank you would have done! To be honest, i thought they were going to get a printed invoice or something, but they had actually just walked away!!! Really rude & not what I expected. It was a bit of a shame but didn't let it ruin our trip to the north of Spain. I'd say stay here if you're not fussed about reception being friendly. Actual hotel is alright 😃

  An excellent choice

  As previously mentioned the location of this hotel is excellent with easy walking to the cathedral, a lovely promenade and a variety of shops and restaurants.On arrival at the hotel we were pleased to find a disabled parking spot across the road literally a few yards away. There were also another two just down the street and it is free to park all day with a UK blue badge and a European disability badge. Had these been unavailable, the hotel offers secure parking at 21 euros a day.We were greeted warmly on reception and our room was very clean. The only negatives were that should you need additional tea, coffee or milk there was an extra charge, there was not one English channel on the TV and the fridge in the room was only used as a mini bar and not cold for storing additional water etc. This was not a problem for us, as I had taken additional tea and coffee and we had downloaded films on Netflix for the evening.We ate the first night in the hotel and the risotto was excellent especially with the addition of the chicken I ordered and breakfast also very good with plenty of variety.On the whole we enjoyed our stay in Santander, with it's beautiful beaches and if returning would definitely book this hotel again.
