  Disappointment

  We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days at the Balneario de Alceda, having made the reservation through Buscaunchollo, and unfortunately our experience was far below expectations.I join the numerous criticisms this establishment has received, as I believe it needs a comprehensive renovation and a deep cleaning. It is a real shame, because its location is exceptional, a 10/10: surrounded by nature, tranquility, and in an ideal setting to disconnect, precisely what we were looking for.However, the facilities and services leave a lot to be desired. I will start with the food, which was what disappointed us the most. Breakfast is very poor in variety and quality, with mostly industrial products and practically the same offering every day. We booked half board hoping to enjoy an adequate gastronomic experience, but we found a very limited menu, with barely six dishes to choose from, which were repeated daily. What is even more disappointing is that there was an additional menu with other options for which you had to pay a supplement, even with a half-board plan. As if that were not enough, even the water was charged separately.As for the room, the situation does not improve either. The outlets were placed at the height of the beds, so it was necessary to move them away from the wall to be able to plug in mobile phones. The floor was broken and in poor condition. Furthermore, during the first night I suffered a fall while I was showering, since there was not even a simple non-slip surface to help prevent this type of accident. I consider that guest safety should be a priority and that these details are absolutely unacceptable.The general feeling is that they have opted for cheap and poorly executed solutions, limiting themselves to maintaining the bare minimum so that everything keeps working, instead of investing in the maintenance and quality that an establishment with these characteristics should offer.On the other hand, the promotional photographs are considerably different from the reality we encountered. The difference between what is shown and what the establishment actually offers is disappointing. In fact, we didn't even go down to the pool, since the general state of the facilities did not give us the confidence or the desire to enjoy them.Ultimately, it is a shame that a place with such a privileged location is so wasted due to the lack of maintenance, cleanliness, quality in the catering, and care of the facilities. Our experience has been disappointing and, honestly, we consider that it would be necessary to close temporarily to carry out a renovation and a proper tune-up.I would not recommend it in its current state. The setting is wonderful, but that does not make up for the deficiencies of the accommodation or the service received. We were hoping to enjoy a few days of rest and we left with a feeling of disappointment and of having paid for an experience that did not live up to what was advertised.   Very expensive for the category it offers!!

  We stayed at the Balneario de al Ceda; the only acceptable things were the reception staff, the spa workers, and the waitresses.The entire building needs many repairs! The room was in very poor condition: broken floor tiles, damaged furniture missing pieces, a broken remote control covered in electrical tape, plus a very outdated television that could not stream content from a mobile phone. There was a broken outlet and, to top it off, it was the only one in the room! The curtains were torn and there was no mini-fridge. The bathroom faucets were rusted, and the bathtub was deteriorated and moldy.In the second-floor hallway, water was dripping from the ceiling, likely coming from the third-floor bathrooms.The food quality was abysmal; there were no breakfast options, just a slice of white bread and a slice of ham. There were no plating standards: if four people at the same table ordered the same dish, each portion had a different amount and level of doneness. They would inform you of the two available dishes of the day and, after choosing one, they would return to tell you that it was sold out and you had to order the other. There were no healthy food options.The cold spa showers had old, rusted, and deteriorated plastic hoses. The sauna cabin was too small for four people. Both the spa tub and the hot tub needed more jets on the walls and in the foot area, in addition to a general renovation.In short, the place is not worth the money we paid; it turned out to be very expensive for the category it offers.   Expectations far above reality

  A very small portion of fried squid, very expensive, not worth it, we went to eat them because of an Instagram video and from what you see in the video to what they serve you, they are not the same dimensions, regarding the cephalopod it is not of bad quality but they are by no means the best anywhere, not recommended at all. On the terrace there were two tables in the corners smoking joints constantly, I know it is not the establishment's fault but I recommend you control it, if they want to smoke let them smoke in the park because they have plenty of space.   Made to feel like one of the family, rather than just a guest.

  A huge thank you to Florin and Beatrix who looked after me and my friend during our stay. Not being able to speak more than a few basic words of Spanish, they went out of their way to make sure we were assisted whenever we needed it.This is a fabulous hotel, with a feel for the real Cantabria. I cant wait until my next visit.

  Warm welcome, Pools amazing

  We came for a relaxing few days - and were not disappointed.Though we had little Spanish, every effort was made by the owners and staff to help us.All drinks arrived with tapas, which were tasty and fresh. The pools were amazing and worked wonders on my post operation husband. The food in the restaurant was typical Spanish fare, all freshly cooked and tasty, we left there with a promise to return. Be careful driving through the village you can miss the turning easily. A must for a relaxing holiday.
