    Family-run beautiful posada with a brilliant restaurant

    Stayed here for two nights during Semana Santa. Lovely, comfortable and clean room and bathroom. The restaurant is great and very authentically Spanish but be prepared to eat a lot (that is not a complaint!). The staff were all helpful and very welcoming. If you’re in Santillana del Mar then this family-run and charming Posada is the perfect place to stay.

    Newly redecorated hotel and restaurant is located half mile west of town. We did not have a car but the walk to Altamira Caves and old town was doable. Served traditional Spanish food. We had bean and pork soup for lunch which was excellent. Fish soup for dinner was excellent too. We do not speak Spanish and owners don't speak English, but they took care of us by just bringing the soup without us asking. This restaurant is definitely a destination if you are in town.

    We wandered into this hotel by chance. It's right down the hill from the Altamira Museo. We ended up eating both lunch and dinner there, and spent the night. What a pleasure! No elevator, but they were very helpful in carrying our luggage to the 2nd floor (3rd in US floors). The room was clean, comfortable, spacious, colorful and decorated in a homey way--like someone's guest room. And did I say the price was extremely reasonable?The food was very good. They served leaf lettuce, a nice treat after all the iceberg lettuce during a month in Spain. The owners, who seemed to work 'round the clock, could not have been more accommodating.

    We were recommended here by our hotel. The food was excellent and very quickly served from the menu del dia. But the staff were straight from the Basil Fawlty school. Not a single smile, cutlery almost thrown at us, food plonked down. So rude it was really funny! I felt like asking if Manuel was off tonight? The good news was they were the same to the other guests, all Spanish! Same cos the food was good and large servings. We will go somewhe else tonight.
