    Good but not quiet

    rating28 Jul 2024

The hotel is a beautiful building with pleasant and quiet surroundings. We had the corner room on the second floor with beautiful views. The staff was welcoming and friendly. However the structure is not soundproof - we could hear the people to our left and right as they came home late, had showers etc. This made for very interrupted sleep. Also, the bathroom is small and awkward to move around in. The plumbing is also problematic.

    Don’t be deceived by appearances..

    rating30 Jun 2023

This place is more like a boarding house for travelling business folk who can’t be trusted.Expect a TV remote on loan from reception; toilet paper under lock and key; the “welcome” folder is a barking order not to smoke; no swimming without a cap (the steps had been removed on one day there); no evening meal option; no air conditioning; virtually no staff; uninspired breakfast with self service coffee from a machine; an empty dining room and a soul less atmosphere. After 2 weeks staying in charming hotels in Northern Spain, this was a real dud.

    Disappointing

    rating12 Jun 2023

The hotel is clean and has a nice pool, but we found it soulless. In three days no one asked if we were enjoying our holiday, or made suggestions for local visits or restaurants. When I asked if there were cushions for the hard plastic loungers by the pool, I was told ‘No’. I saw one solitary rose bush in the large garden but nowhere to sit.We had a nice balcony but it was meanly furnished with just a basket ware chair for two and a small table. MARTA FERNANDEZ, Director General at Hotel SIGLO XVIII, responded to this review We’re sorry our hotel didn’t meet with your expectations, it’s a small, family-run hotel but we are very proud of the quality of our facilities and our personal service. We hope you’ll appreciate that the pool was closed and not set up for clients’ use at the time of your visit and that we only opened it specially to comply with your request. If you had asked we would have been very happy to make recommendations of restaurants and places to visit but we prefer to be discrete and wait for the guest to enquire – we’re sorry if you weren’t aware of this service but there’s always someone in the reception area to help with any questions our clients may have.

Peaceful location yet close to the historic town

    rating16 Sept 2021

My wife and I stayed here on our motorcycle tour in September and were delighted with the hotel with its peaceful, yet highly convenient position to the heart of the village. From the moment we arrived and met Marta and her colleague, Elaina we were made most welcome and they spoke good English. Which was a blessing and we thank them for putting up with and trying to improve our poor attempt at speaking Spanish. The scrupulously clean hotel is beautiful finished and furnished in a traditional style with the extensive use of wood and large cool reception areas. We were given a beautiful room on the first floor with a large covered balcony at the front of the hotel that provides views over the village and countryside. The covered terrace overlooking the pool is a lovely area to enjoy a cool drink. The pool is very clean and inviting, although we didn’t get time for a dip. The breakfast is enormous and certainly sets you up for the day. The picturesque historic old town is within 7 minutes walk and offers an excellent selection of bars, cafes and restaurants. There are day to day shops and a small but well stocked supermarket also within a short walk. Thank you so much to all the staff for making our stay most enjoyable.

    A great find

    rating21 Jul 2020

The hotel was lovely and quiet. We had a balcony with the room overlooking a meadow. The staff were working very hard to make us welcome and to ensure everything was as coronavirus free as possible. Breakfast was extensive with plenty of choice quality and quantity.I would definitely stay here again.
