I am traveling often and come to Athens several times a year.I consider the lycabettus as my home and the staff, especially George the desk manager, as friends. The location is fantastic, the sercice is perfect and friendly, the renewed rooftop with the pool offers you a breathtaking wiew ober the city, the sea and the Acropolis. My suite is nicely decorated in a contemporary way and opens on a private large terrace. From my eyes, and from far, I consider the Lycabettus as the best hotel in Athens.I warmly recommend it whatever is the purpose of your stay.Luc A. Amazingly friendly staff. Very clean hotel with large comfortable beds. Really nice massage shower. The location is perfect. Easy walk down to a good selections of restaurants, cafes and bars. A taxi is recommended coming back, around 5 Euros.Very good value.

    Fairly nice one

The hotel is definatelly not a 5 stars hotel, but still fairly OK. Looks like it has lost the old glam ages ago. The rooms seem bit old and tired, still clean and comfy. The restaurant that serves tasty and well displayed buffet breakfast is located on the last floor in a specious roof terrace with a great view over the whole city incl. Acropolis. As the hotel is located on a mountain (Lycabettus) it may be hard to reach for elderly people, still the area is really safe and surrounded by many small caffees and shops. We spent there one week in February. As for two women (my mom and myself) it was very important to stay in a place that is safe also after the dark (already at 6pm in winter) We indeed felt safe over there.Although, the hotel stuff was really great, the SPA's (located in the hotel) employees are quite annoying trying to sell their treatments stopping you in the lobby or at the enrance in the restaurant.

Much to like and a few quirky bits.

We really enjoyed our stay - staff were good, wifi was reliable and the room was fine. We stayed on a lower floor with a view of the Acropolis, just slightly blocked by a tree - no doubt it's wholly spectacular from the rooms higher up.When I booked, I'd somehow come to believe that it was close to the Acropolis but it's a good 2k walk - wasn't a problem, even in 33 degree mid-morning sun, but you'd want to be expecting it. Great spot to hike up Mount Lycabettus however - the view of Athens from the top is awesome. The hotel's restaurant offers view of the Acropolis across the city that are just stunning and the pool on the roof, though small, is simply lovely. The quirky bits - a frosted glass door on a loud self-closing hinge to our bathroom, a bit of a labyrinth to get to the lift to the pool, a shower that had more controls than a 787 and balcony doors that couldn't be pulled closed from the outside. Ok - first world problems. The staff were good, including a call from the concierge to see if we needed to check-in and print boarding passes (we did) and to offer a wake up call.

    The Best Staff Ever

    rating04 Aug 2015

This hotel is not a fancy hotel but it is a great location, great staff, GREAT breakfast that is included. They have housekeeping, safes, Front desk people who are incredibly helpful and watchful over you. Many people kinda freaked out when they found I was traveling a lone. This hotel and its staff made me feel safe and at home. They also speak English rather well.
