Facility

The apartment hotel has 107 apartments, which are located on 5 storeys and are reachable by lift. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day. Amenities include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service, cash machine and drinks machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a TV room, a playroom and a library. Rooms

Air conditioning ensures that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. A balcony is included as standard in some rooms. The rooms have a double bed and a sofa bed. Extra beds can be requested.     Very good overall, one small improvement. Comfortable apartment, room, balcony, separate living area and small kitchenette with fridge, hob, kettle toaster, perfect for a short 6 day stay. Everything was very clean. Only improvement - we had to ask at the reception to have the floors cleaned and bins changed on day 5 as they haven’t done it, and for a studio apartment where we were cooking and had rubbish, it would be appreciated, maybe every 3 days.     We're just back from 9 nights at this apartment hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful from reception to housekeeping and bar restaurant. The apartment was spotless and was cleaned regularly. The pool area was excellent with readily available beds, thankfully no loud music ! The location of the Hotel was within 5 mins walk of Tossa beach front, and with (quiet) local bars and restaurants and supermarkets next door every need was catered for.     Great location 5 minutes walk to centre of town and beach. Lovely clean comfortable room. Friendly helpful staff. Nice pool and sunbathing area.     Central location offering self catering or bed and breakfast. Rooms are studios or two room apartments. Apartments are sold as up to four people but this means sleeping in the lounge/diner as the bedroom only sleeps two. There is no entertainment and a half size swimming pool. The shale beach is a ten minute walk away. Supermarkets are plentiful, as are bar and restaurants. Tossa is the pride of the Costa Brava and does not allow any of the branded fast- food outlets. Breakfast ( from 8 til 11) is "Continental" but we enjoyed ham and cheese toasties with baked beans. Bar prices are cheaper than the beach outlets and snacks can be purchased throughout the day.     We liked staying at Hotel Esmeraldas. Excellent value, spotlessly clean and great service.

    We booked through Tui and it was excellent value. We had a studio on the 5 th floor (there are lifts) with a balcony on the poolside of the building (which from other reviews is the best side to have a room). We could see the pool, although in general the view isn’t great (back of apartments but not too close) and you can’t see the sea (although the balcony is nice and very sunny in the morning). The hotel itself is only a short walk from the shops, restaurants, beach, old town and castle. The studio had a well-equipped kitchen, modern bathroom with power shower, comfy beds and air con. It was all spotlessly clean. I swam everyday in the pool which was also well kept. We opted not to have the breakfast as preferred to prepare our own (the supermarkets are close by). Joao on reception was amazing. He is fluent in English, welcoming and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and he really is an asset to the company. Recommendations which we can verify as excellent choices include - Cafe D’en Biel for good food, music and location. The boat trip to the caves (discount voucher from reception) where they go in the caves and then drop you off at Cala Giverola - a great beach for a swim (boats run every 30 minutes). The little white train ride around Tossa de Mar is good - a bit bumpy but fun! Walking up through the old town and castle to the lighthouse - a nice walk (day and evening - do both) for good views and a bar at the top. We took the local bus to Girona - well worth a visit to the old town and magnificent cathedral. We also took a bus to Loret de Mar one morning - that was enough. Great if you’re 18 but not for us!Overall, if you want a good value holiday and like us don’t want the ‘all inclusive’, preferring more independence, then you can’t go wrong with Esmeraldas.
