    Terrieble food

    rating28 Sept 2026

Lacation: A plus is that the hotel is right by the beach, but the town is quite run-down and lacks authenticity (everything is artificial, designed for tourists). The hotel is close to the train station that offers connections to Barcelona; unfortunately, the tracks run right next to the hotel, so you can hear the trains starting at 5 a.m.The rooms are basic, but the price is reasonable, and the air conditioning works well. A major downside is that the balcony cannot be locked, so I didn't feel safe leaving valuables inside. The food was terrible. Even the scrambled eggs and tomatoes were unappetizing. There was a large selection, but nothing tasted good. Drinks with dinner are charged extra. There wasn't even water provided.

Ok hotel for a few nights!

    rating12 Jun 2026

A very basic dated hotel! Its completely fine for a few nights and its pretty clean! But the rooms are a bit dated! The staff is ok! Breakfast was a bit disappointing. Its very near the train-tracks so you hear the trains alot, the rooftop pool was nice! Its very close to the sea, but beware theres alot of construction work around the hotel at the moment!

Clean, but facilities and rooms need an update.

    rating24 Apr 2026

Positives: Great location, clean, friendly staff, beach across the road. Friendly staff. Baggage storage.Negatives: thin walls, very outdated rooms although public areas are quite modern. Facilities not the best. No tea or coffee facilities, bar opens at 11.30am so can’t buy one until then. Swimming pool not open in April which doesn’t state this on their details. Drain smells through out. Breakfast time is 08.00am to 09.00am if you pay for it. 1 hr isn’t long enough. Check out 09.00am, at least make it 10.00am. Only 1 sheet and a bed cover so can be a bit nippy at night time. Trainline busy in front of hotel. Not enough sockets in the room to charge phones etc.

Noisy location due to train line , outdated facilities, no kettle, no fridge but friendly staff and cleaners.

    rating12 Sept 2025

Noisy location due to train line and lack of soundproofing. Beware: no kettle, ironing board or fridge. Rooms are clean, very basic with an itchy rough throw/cover. Mattress was rock hard, and twin beds kept separating. Breakfast was basic, but staff are friendly and the bar is excellent value. You’ll likely need a holiday to get over the lack of sleep.

Friendly staff however not so friendly location

    rating13 Jul 2025

I stayed at Hotel Espanya as a female solo traveler and overall had a mixed experience. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which made check-in and interactions throughout my stay pleasant. My room was clean and well-maintained, which I appreciated after long days out exploring. I had opted for the bed and breakfast option — the breakfast was a basic continental spread. While it was fine for a quick bite, the variety was limited and felt quite minimal over multiple mornings. There were a few downsides to my stay. The hotel is located just outside a train line, and even as a deep sleeper, I found the noise from passing trains disruptive, especially at night. The walls inside the hotel were quite thin as well, so I could clearly hear other guests returning to their rooms in the late hours, which impacted my sleep.Additionally, the street leading to the hotel was poorly lit in the evenings. As a solo traveler, I felt somewhat uneasy walking back after dark — better lighting or security presence would go a long way in improving the sense of safety. In summary, Hotel Espanya has some positive aspects, particularly the friendly staff and cleanliness, but noise levels and location-related concerns may be worth considering, especially for solo travelers or light sleepers.
