There are many cheaper and better options around the area; shop around, and you won't be disappointed as we were.

I’d like to start with the positives, although there aren’t many, and each comes with a caveat. The lady at the front desk is great. Her manner is impeccable, and she always speaks with courtesy and professionalism. She handles everything with ease and a positive attitude. It’s clear she takes great pride in her work, but she can only work with what is given to her.The hotel features a spa with a steam room, sauna, cold plunge, and jacuzzi. However, when we visited, the sauna was not working, so we were left with only three functional amenities. On the upside, the spa was quiet during our visit, which allowed us to enjoy some peaceful moments. The location of the hotel is another highlight. It’s set in a tranquil, picturesque mountain area, providing a beautiful and serene environment, perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. However, there were several disappointments during our stay. The hotel is advertised as an adult-only establishment, but this was far from reality. Over our three-day stay, we frequently saw children running around, using scooters, and dining at the restaurant. When we raised this issue with the staff, they informed us that children were only permitted in the restaurant. Despite this, we noticed a family staying in one of the rooms (between rooms 11 to 15, though we aren’t sure which exact room). From the pool area, we could clearly hear a little girl screaming, which directly contradicted the hotel’s adult-only policy as advertised on their website in CAPITAL LETTERS.Our experience was further soured by a shockingly unpleasant check-in. We arrived at 9 PM to find no lights guiding us to the reception and no staff to assist us. There was a man behind the desk at a computer, who took his time getting up and did not greet us or say good evening. Although he found our booking, he struggled to assign us a room, leaving us standing at reception for at least 20 minutes while he sorted it out.Parking was another issue. The hotel is supposed to reserve parking spots separately for hotel guests and restaurant customers, but this policy was neither respected nor enforced. This lack of organisation added to our frustration. It seems the hotel is desperate for money and willing to compromise every principle it was supposedly founded on. The room itself was very basic, offering only towels and shampoo. There wasn’t even a box of tissues provided. The room had a strange smell and felt extremely plain and unwelcoming. The daily room cleaning service consisted of new towels, and that's about where it ended. Finally, we had lunch in the hotel restaurant. Options for vegetarians were limited; however, the food was very good. Compliments to the chef, who is let down massively by appalling service. We could hear the waitstaff swearing and complaining to each other, as well as having conversations about former employees—completely unprofessional. The level of service you experience at the table is your food being delivered, and that’s it.In summary, while the location and some aspects of the spa were enjoyable, the broken sauna, the presence of children in what was supposed to be an adult-only hotel, and the unpleasant check-in experience were significant letdowns. For what you pay, the return is minimal. The rooms and breakfast are substandard, making the overall experience a huge disappointment. There are many cheaper and better options around the area; shop around, and you won't be disappointed as we were.

    My Recent Return

    rating12 Sept 2022

Once again the hotel lived up to our expectationsThe eco rooms that we stayed in could be a little better with the addition of drawer space and complimentary bathroom accessories, but overall the hotel and its location is first class. The staff and particularly the breakfast staff are excellent and of course the famous breakfast is superb. The only draw back is the on-site restaurant(Simpons) which operates as a separate entity and although the food is good the owners attitude leaves a lot to be desired.Fortunately the are plenty of great eateries elsewhere. Recepció Mas Ses Vinyes, Director General at Mas Ses Vinyes, responded to this review Dear Ian, We’d like to first take this opportunity to apologise for the inconvenience. We work tirelessly to improve our facilities and are currently undergoing a renovation to help improve your experience at Mas Ses Vinyes. In reference to the Restaurant, I let you know that we are working on a totally different proposal from January 2023.We are waiting for you again at your home in Begur: Mas Ses Vinyes Thank you. :)Òscar Portela,GM

    Quiet, beautiful location

    rating09 Aug 2022

We stayed here for 1 night during a tour of Costa Brava last week. It's outside of Bergun in the countryside and appears to be an old vineyard turned spa/resort. The views are pastoral and beautiful. We unwound in the infinity pool and enjoyed the sunset before going up to the main house for dinner. The restaurant onsite that serves lunch/dinner is separately owned (see my separate review) however breakfast is handled by the hotel staff. It featured a large variety of baked goods and local cheeses, charcuterie and baked goods. The meats and cheeses were the best we had during our trip. Recepció Mas Ses Vinyes, Director General at Mas Ses Vinyes, responded to this review Dear PRButterfield,Thank you so much for you review about our property. We are looking back for your next stay with us!Òscar Portela,GM

    Excellent place to stay

    rating01 Aug 2022

Spent 3 nights here, what a wonderful place. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Fantastic views. The room we had in the main building was great, all you need except for mosquito control, they are all over the region and you need protection day and night. This was missing in the room.Just a couple of things you need to know.1) The Simsons restaurant is not managed by the hotel, it is independent. But you eat well and it is popular with locals. The problem being the car park is often full of restaurant goers and this leaves no space for hotel guests arriving back after a night out.2) The hotel doesn't have a bar, you have to use the restaurants, this is a bit strange. That all said it is a solid 4 star place. We will be back. Recepció Mas Ses Vinyes, Director General at Mas Ses Vinyes, responded to this review Dear Jay,Thank you for your review about our property. As so mention, actually the restaurant and the bar are mannaged by Simpson, but next year they won't be here anymore. We are looking forward your next stay with us!Òscar Portela,GM

    Nice gem, fully recommend

    rating09 Jul 2022

We loved it here. We don’t usually stay in 4-star hotels but as there are no 5-stars in the vicinity we gave this a try. We stayed in one of the upscale rooms, number 18, and we have no complaints: wonderful hydromassage tub, nice terrace, and comfy bed. While the price we paid was more 5-star (due to high season) we had a peaceful night’s sleep.Breakfast is good. Only comment is it might be good to keep it until 11 am instead of 10:30.Wonderful views from the hotel, for a weekend away from home. We look forward to staying again!
