Nice hotel close to all amenities and the beach

    rating27 Sept 2026

Stayed at The Volga as part of a coach trip. Great hotel with wonderful food selection. Breakfasts were great and plentiful. Even had an omelette one morning. Evening meals were fantastic with a really good selection of B meat and fish dishes.Very spacious room and shower room and very bright and modern with a balcony although I was on a corner near the railway so the view not so good although if I looked in the distance had a glimpse of the sea but it did get the sun until around 4:00pm everyday so a nice quiet place to sit with a cup of tea and read my book.Great bar and pool area. Entertainment laid on for a few evenings - including Flamenco but more modern than traditional - in the bar area. A welcome drink on our second night and a small tapas and sangria prior to dinner on the final night in the bar.Had a minor problem either a leak in my room and bathroom on the penultimate morning. Dealt with really quickly and I was able to go down to the pool and enjoy the rest of my morning. Enjoyed the afternoon on my balcony after I finished the packing.A few minor mixups but nothing major and sorted out very quickly. All in all an enjoyable holiday. Will definitely return at some stage but maybe as an independent traveller but who knows maybe by coach again.

Lovely smaller hotel. Very good value

    rating27 Aug 2026

Lovely little hotel. Very convenient next to a small train station by the beach. We had a triple room next to the elevator which wasn't two loud but probably meant we had a larger room. Very nice room and bathroom. Breakfast was fantastic. Dinner was decent for the extra we paid. Very good value. Service was way above what I expected in both the restaurant and reception. The pool area was nice. It's small and because of the surrounding buildings doesn't get sun for more than half the day. But it's clean and well maintained and wasn't busy. As a tip you can get the train to Barcelona in an hour on a very scenic along the beach coast right outside the hotel for around £10 return

    Not great

    rating14 Aug 2026

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in in Spain. Compared with other 4-star hotels in the region, I would rate this hotel only 3 stars.Firstly, it is not actually beachfront. From the sea-view room, all you can see is the train station and a building directly in front of you. The swimming pool is also very small—there were around 10 people in it, and there was barely enough space to swim. There were also not enough sunbeds. The worst part is that you have to book a Superior Room to have access to the beach. Otherwise, you have to pay €12 per person for a sunbed. For a family of four, that means paying €48 per day, which I find ridiculous for a 4-star hotel, especially when other hotels in the region offer free beach access to their guests. There are also very few amenities in the room. There were no tissues, the minibar was disappointing, and there were no shelves in the minibar door. The minibar itself was very small. There was no complimentary water, the hairdryer was like a toy, and the air conditioning was very old and did not work properly.Overall, I was not satisfied with our stay. However, I would like to thank one member of the front-office staff, Joseph, who was very helpful, welcoming, and professional Kaktus Hotels, Otros at KAKTUS Hotel Volga, responded to this review Hello Resa,We are sorry to hear that your experience with us did not meet your expectations. While access to the beach is open to everyone, sunbeds are only included with bookings for our superior rooms. We would also like to remind our clients that they can find all the amenities they need at the reception. Please ask for anything you need during your stay, since we do not put everything in the rooms to be as environmentally friendly as possible to avoid unnecessary waste.Kind regards,Georgina G. - Guest Relations Manager Kaktus Hotels

Decent stay, but definitely not a 4-star hotel

    rating13 Aug 2026

Decent stay, but definitely not a 4-star hotelThe hotel was clean and the room was cleaned every day, which was a big positive. The air conditioning worked consistently, which is especially important during the summer. The evening food was also good, with different options available each night. However, I would not consider this a true 4-star hotel. Amenities are almost non-existent. You have to pay extra for things that are often included elsewhere, such as water bottles and even towels. It was also disappointing that drinks are not included, regardless of whether you are all-inclusive, half board, or breakfast only.Breakfast was very basic. There is a juice machine, but I genuinely questioned how often it is cleaned. If you want decent coffee then you need to wait for the bar to open at 10am to get a good coffee otherwise you’re getting machine coffee during breakfast, which isn’t the best and very diluted. The balcony was quite small, and the hotel overall feels like it needs refurbishment. The staff were friendly, although I found it a bit odd that guests are seated at a table every time instead of being allowed to choose their own seat after getting food.A very minor complaint, but the toilet paper was noticeably cheap. The biggest advantage of this hotel is definitely the location. It is very close to the town centre and the train station, which makes getting around very easy.Overall, it was a decent stay and good enough for a short trip, but it did not feel like a 4-star experience. Clean rooms, working air conditioning, friendly staff, and decent evening food were the highlights; basic breakfast, lack of amenities, and extra charges for simple items were the main downsides Kaktus Hotels, Other at KAKTUS Hotel Volga, responded to this review Hello Anonymous,We are happy to see that you liked the housekeeping work and the buffet service. However, we are sorry to hear that some other aspects of the hotel did not meet your expectations. We would like to take this opportunity to remind our clients that we have many other amenities available at the front desk. We keep some of them there to collaborate and try to be as eco-friendly as possible by avoiding unnecessary waste. It is true that we offer a towel service with a deposit, which is refunded once the towels are returned to the front desk.I will make sure to share your comments with the rest of the team at our next meeting. At KAKTUS Hotels we know how important it is to listen to our guests to keep improving our services. We hope to welcome you in the future.Kind regards,Georgina G. - Guest Relations Manager Kaktus Hotels
