Fawlty Towers the Sequel

DAY 2 – FAWLTY TOWERS: THE CALELLA SEQUEL ????????Well… 32 years ago we came to Calella and stayed in apartments that reminded us of Fawlty Towers.Fast-forward 32 years and apparently we’ve booked the sequel. ????Different building, same era by the looks of it! I’m not entirely convinced the rooms have seen a refurbishment since our last visit to Calella! ??On the plus side, the location is absolutely brilliant. Everything is on our doorstep, and we’ve found some gorgeous little eateries just a few yards from the hotel and in the Old Town. Thank goodness we didn’t go all-inclusive, because judging by what we’ve experienced so far, I think that might have tipped me over the edge! ????The room itself is… how shall I put this politely? VERY retro. ?? No mini fridge, hardly anywhere to put our clothes, so our suitcases have officially become wardrobes for the week. Living the dream! ??Then there’s the bed. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to sleep on a concrete paving slab, wonder no more! ?????The walls are apparently made from tracing paper. We are now far more familiar with our neighbours’ bathroom habits than we ever wanted to be ??????, while the neighbours on the other side decided that 1am was the perfect time to open Club Calella in their bedroom! ??????The reception staff are absolutely lovely ??. The bar staff can come across as a little cocky, although English isn’t their first language, so when communication gets lost in translation it can be frustrating for everyone. We’re trying to be patient and remember that our Spanish isn’t exactly award-winning either! ??I genuinely hate leaving bad reviews, because there are positives here — the location is fantastic and the reception staff are lovely — but the rooms desperately need some TLC.That said, we came back to Calella for nostalgia, and nostalgia is certainly what we got… I just didn’t realise the accommodation would be joining in too! ??????Do we regret coming? Absolutely not! ??????If you want cheap and cheerful, a fantastic location, somewhere to rest your head and a mattress firm enough to straighten your spine, you’ve found it! ??It’s certainly not The Ritz…It’s more “Faulty Towers on Tour” — but for one week, we’ll survive! ??????Now, where’s Manuel when you need him?! ????BRING ON DAY 3! ????????

I lost my Apple EarPods in my room. I asked the cleaner about them, and she said she did not take them. I also reported the incident to the receptionist, but up until now, I have not received any update or assistance.I think you need to improve the way theft or missing-item cases are handled, because guests should feel that their belongings are taken seriously and that such incidents are properly investigated.

Perfect for a Relaxing Couple Vacation

I am staying here with my husband and we are enjoying our holiday. When we checked in at 11 p.m. there was dinner waiting for us in the restaurant. The location is great, 10 min walk to the beach, local shops. Our room is spacious, they are cleaning every day. The service is good. The food is also very delicious and various. At night, the hotel has program, like Karaoke, Bingo, Dance Show. I only have one complaint. The beds are not that comfortable. All in all, we are satisfied.

My family went all inclusive i didn't because I am 70 and have ibs my daughter and the grandchildren were having a meal i wanted to ask my daughter something so I just walked in the restaurant a member of staff shouted for me to stop i turned round asked for my room number which I gave then she said you can't come in you are not all inclusive put her arms out to stop me with my rolleter i felt like a criminal so bloody rude I will not be coming back to this hotel
