Great basic hotel with excellent staff

    rating03 May 2026

Was quite nervous as some of the reviews are fairly brutal but I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food on the all inclusive was fine, and the drinks options on all inclusive were more than adequate. Our room was large and clean. Great market on corner of hotel on a Friday. Ten minute walk to beach. Early season so plenty of beds round the pool. We ate at hotel every day, three times a day and never went hungry. Breakfast is always my favourite though although the fresh fish cooked to order was beautiful.

    Chilled vibes

We were there only English couple in the hotel, which is ok but it's catered for the Spanish market. The hotel is basic, but clean, rooms are big enough. There's not been much choice for food and most of it was cold, but they do have a microwave on standby to reheat.Location is in the middle of residential area with a 10 minute walk into town and a further 15 minutes to the beach. There is a chilled out vibe and most of the staff are helpful .We went all inclusive here but there are options for half board, There is a fridge in the room but no kettle and they didn't supply a complimentary bottle of water. All in all it's been a cheap & cheerful enough week but wouldn't want to stay much longer than that

Friendly staff and good for allergies.

I spend 4 days here at the beginning of September 2025 with my adult daughter. We arrived fairly late (10pm) but were able to check in quickly and once we'd found our room we headed to the bar. Without exception the staff were amazing. I wouldn't like to pick anyone out as they were all so accomodating. The bar staff (who were always working!) were funny but quick and attentive. The lady doing games around the pool was amazing at so many languages. She had us all playing games while switching between french, english and spanish. The food was the good all inclusive food. Plenty of choice for the few days we were there. We were able to serve ourselves with soft drinks and go to the restaurant bar for alcohol. My daugher isn't able to eat gluten or dairy but once we'd explained this we got a guided tour of the food at every meal. The chef was amazing and made sure that she knew what she could and couldn't eat. There were some things that we'd assumed she wouldn't be able to eat as they looked like desserts full of dairy but they were made from soya! Result. She was very happy with all the choice. The young man on the cooking station would make sure that she was well looked after. I have never taken her to an all inclusive before, knowing that it is difficult to eat out, but they made it so easy. I couldn't fault the service. The hotel is well placed near to the town and the beach. We walked to both daily. There is also a Carrefour very close to pick up anything else you require. The beach is quite sloped but was still warm in the sea in September. I think we were the crazy brits that were swimming in the rain! Got to be done. There were plenty of shops in the town for browsing on the cooler days and plenty of restuarants if you wanted to eat out. It was harder to find somewhere just for a drink. The rooms were clean and perfectly large enough. My only gripe would be that on check in were were given a booklet to show what was included on the all inclusive but it seemed VERY limited (no wine, no soft drinks etc). It wasn't until half way through when we asked the bar about hot chocolate and they gave us a different menu that included soft drinks and even a cocktail of the day! This menu was much more like I was expecting. Local wines, local spirits, soft drinks from the tap etc were all free on all inclusive. I just wish I'd known this earlier. The initial menu did seem at odds to my limited experience of all inclusive (I've only done it once before) but I didn't question it. All in all a lovely hotel which is made all the better for the staff.

    Unhelpful staff, facilities ok

    rating19 Sept 2025

I travelled here to use as base to go to my daughters wedding a few miles away.My first few days were ok, food reasonable, but some of the dishes were lukewarm at best, tables very close together meaning other guests would regularly brush past your table, not nice when they are dressed for the pool and you’re having breakfast. Please note-if you want to park your car at the hotel, it’s €15 a night. My problems arose at the end of my week, when I foolishly thought that the reception team might have some local knowledge.I needed a taxi pre-booked to and from the wedding, so three days prior, I asked for this to be pre-booked, I was informed that it would not be possible to do this, not sure why!I was told to just come to reception (which I did) and it would be booked for me and wouldn’t have to wait more than 5 mins, it would cost me €15, each way, I gave them the address and a taxi duly turned up and took me to the wrong address… in the wrong direction! So we turned round, drove to the wedding, the driver complaining all the way, the cost of this €100, I asked them to return later in the day, the driver said “no”.So I was left to my own devices to get back later, I called the hotel, they said it was not their problem… thanks! When I eventually got back to the hotel (thanks to other guests and a friendly hotel manager in Palafrugell) to a cost of €150..I had asked (3days prior as well as just leaving for the wedding) for a bed for my daughter, who was flying back with me the following morning as well as a “picnic pack” for the two of us as well were leaving early.I had to go back to reception as there was no bed, the receptionist and housekeeping begrudgingly supplied the bed just before midnight, as for the food, I’ve no idea…Anyway if you don’t mind being blasted with music every afternoon by the pool and don’t actually need any help while you’re there, it’s a reasonable place, however not for me! Hotel- cmanager, Owner at htop Platja Park, responded to this review Dear Richarddo,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate you acknowledging the reasonable aspects of our facilities during the first part of your stay. Our team takes pride in offering varied dining options through show cooking and theme dinners, though we regret any inconsistency in meal temperatures disrupted your experience. However, we sincerely apologize that several service aspects fell short of expectations. Our 24-hour reception team is typically available to assist with local arrangements, and we regret the taxi coordination issues you encountered. Regarding late-night requests, we acknowledge housekeeping should have been more proactive in anticipating your needs. Finally, we're grateful you recognized our strategic location near Costa Brava's cycling routes and Aqua Diver park. While afternoon poolside activities aim to create holiday ambiance, we understand this may not suit all preferences. We hope that you will allow us the opportunity of providing you with an improved stay in future. Best regards,Director H∙Top Platja Park

A penny pinching hotel, not the best!

    rating14 Sept 2025

My wife and I stayed here for three nights on 12th September. We arrived at 10am and was told our room wouldn’t be ready until 2pm. This normally wouldn’t be too bad, but we were then told our all-inclusive wouldn’t start until 12pm. We questioned this, as we were aware that we would be leaving at 6am on our last day, so essentially losing a full day of the A/I but was told, that’s just the politics of the hotel, though we’d be able to order a ‘picnic’ for our last day If ordered the day before. On the last night at 19:45 we decided that we’d order the picnic as we have no other means of anything to eat before getting to the airport, only to be told we’re too late and this should have been ordered before 19:00. At no time were we told there was a time limit to order. How difficult is it for a kitchen to make up a sandwich and a bottle of water? When we finally got in the room it was quite basic with no kettle facilities, just a fridge. The balcony locks just a metal clip with the divider between the two rooms easily climbable. The bathroom leaves a lot to be desired with mouldy sealant around the sink, paper cups in the bathroom and a shower curtain placed so far within the bath that it clings to you when having a shower. The food isn’t much better with the selection being quite poor and many of the items on offer being lukewarm. The tables being so close together that when anyone walks past you they’re virtually knocking your table. In the bar area, the men’s toilets have no facility to dry your hands. You can see where an electric hand dryer once lived, but no more!Overall, the hotel is budget based, with penny pinching being quite prevalent! Hotel- cmanager, Owner at htop Platja Park, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize that your experience fell short of expectations. Our check-in team strives to accommodate early arrivals whenever possible, and we regret any confusion regarding all-inclusive service hours which run from 10am to 11pm daily.Regarding room facilities, we confirm all bathrooms undergo daily deep cleaning and maintenance checks. Our standard rooms include fridges for guest convenience, with kettles available upon request at reception. Our culinary team typically receives positive feedback about meal variety and temperature control, though we acknowledge your experience differed. We've shared your comments with our F&B manager for review.Your observations about bathroom amenities and pool area facilities have been noted. While hand dryers were temporarily removed during recent renovations, fresh towels remain available at all bars.We hope we can welcome you back in the future.Kind regards,Director H∙Top Platja Park
