    Possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. There was a layer of dust over everything. It was dark and dingy and very depressing. The lift didn't work, So I had to drag my case to my room up 2 flights of stairs. I am disabled so that took a lot of effort.Shower was mouldy both black and a red jelly like subatance. There were also long black hairs on the floor and in the shower. The room was OK ishh but very dusty. The toilet bowl had black mould under the back rim. Someone rattled my door handle at 1am. Bit scary as I was the last room in the corridor. Breakfast was dreadful.Customer service was awful, messages, emails and phone calls ignored. I managed 2 nights and then fled to the Premier Inn.

    A lovely building and very central location with friendly check in. However, the room was incredibly dated and run down. Walls were marked and peeling, the bathroom was grimy and poorly cleaned. Stained carpets, thick layer of dust on window ledges. In need of a remodelling.

    Extremely disappointing Afternoon Tea

    I had booked an Afternoon Tea for myself and a friend for a Christmas present. The lady serving us was very pleasant, can’t fault her. The dining area was OK but nothing special. However the “Afternoon Tea” can only be described as embarrassing! Sandwiches acceptable , the “scones” were very thin and flat with one tiny pot of Rodda’s cream between 2, sweet treats…… well I will attach a photograph and let you decide (these were between 2 of us!) I certainly would not recommend this hotel for Afternoon Tea.

    Something a little 'off' about the way this Hotel operates. Phoned up to request the VAT number to provide to my accountant to record for the purposes of our expenses claim, staff refused to provide it over the phone on the basis he 'did not know who I was' and suggested I look it up, despite fact it is not on their website. Its supposed to be on each of their invoices so hardly a secret! It was missing off the page of my invoice (and not on the card receipt I had from the payment). Why be so obstrusive and intentionally unhelpful??

    After waiting for minutes for someone to come to reception I was given a room which had clearly had a leak through the roof, black mould and a bathroom window that looked like it was about to fall out. I got offered another room that had a shower covered in black mould mould and orange soap scum and had not been cleaned in some time. The 3rd room I was offered had a bath with numerous chips in the enamel, broken lighting, black mould on the bedroom wallpaper and what appeared to be blood stains on the duvet cover. I left and booked into another hotel.
