Hotel ok, BAR no recommend it
24 Sept 2026
I booked the hotel for a short getaway, as I live in Valencia. It is a very nice hotel, and the location is perfect—close to the beach, the Old Town, and the castle. The rooms are standard for a 4-star hotel. However, I missed having a minibar and a bathrobe—amenities usually found in such hotels. As for the spa area, it is lovely, located on the 5th floor with views of the castle and the surrounding area. That said, I wouldn't recommend visiting in late September, as the temperatures are still too high; the water in both the whirlpool and the pool was boiling hot. Unfortunately, I have to criticize one thing: the so-called "bar" lacks a proper bar atmosphere—it looks more like a breakfast room. It was a shame; it didn't feel very inviting.

Very poor experience
18 Sept 2026
We arrived at the hotel, after a two hour train journey from Valencia where we had all our money stolen. We were hoping for some help and compassion from the reception staff. However we were told we would have to go to the police station on the Monday (this was Saturday). None of the staff spoke English except for reception staff, which made for a very awkward week where most of the tourists were Spanish and we were made to feel uncomfortable. This hotel advised that the staff speak English, but this was not the case. We even saw staff laughing at us. The room was basic with a wonderful view of a wall. However, the beds were comfortable. Hotel was clean, rooms were cleaned daily, view from the roof was amazing. Pool was too cold and no pool bar. Food was ok, breakfast had a lot of options. The area was beautiful, but I would not return due to the unfriendliness of the people. _direcciondoncarlos, Director General at Hotel RH Don Carlos & Spa, responded to this review Dear Tracie,Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are sincerely sorry that your arrival at our hotel was marked by such an unpleasant situation as the theft you experienced during your journey. We understand that, at such a difficult time, you needed support and understanding, and we regret that the assistance you received did not meet your expectations.Regarding assistance in the event of a theft, our staff can provide guidance and the necessary information, although certain procedures, such as filing a police report, must be handled directly with the relevant authorities and are subject to their procedures and opening hours. In any case, we are sorry that the assistance you received was not what you expected in such a difficult situation.Regarding your comment about our staff, we would like to clarify that our team does not laugh at guests or intend to make them feel uncomfortable in any way. We are surprised and sorry that you had this impression, as treating our guests with respect and courtesy is fundamental to us.With regard to the language, it is true that not all of our staff speak English, although we do have reception staff who are able to assist our guests in English. We regret that this situation affected your experience during your stay.We are pleased to know that you found our facilities clean, enjoyed the comfort of the beds, the breakfast and the views from our rooftop, and that you were able to appreciate the beauty of our surroundings.Thank you for sharing both the positive aspects of your stay and those that were not to your satisfaction. We are sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations, and we hope that, despite the circumstances, you were still able to take away some good memories from your visit.Kind regards,
