A disgraceful experience for a 4-star hotel – AVOID AT ALL COSTS!We spent two nights at Encinar de Sotogrande and, quite frankly, the least we can say is that our stay was absolutely appalling.We arrived late on Friday evening, only to discover bathroom sealant completely covered in mould, both around the sink and in the shower. To make matters even worse, the shower tray was literally cracked in half!When we brought these issues to the staff’s attention, their response was simply unbelievable: we were told that we had to send them an email so that housekeeping could deal with the matter.Seriously? Bathroom sealant does not become covered in this amount of mould in just a few hours. This clearly points to a lack of basic maintenance and attention over several weeks, if not longer. These issues were either already known or should have been identified long ago.What makes the situation even more unacceptable is the complete lack of concern or meaningful response from the staff. We are not talking about minor cosmetic imperfections or insignificant details, but fundamental issues involving hygiene and maintenance in a hotel bathroom.A hotel advertising itself as a 4-star establishment should provide, at the very least, basic standards of cleanliness, maintenance and service. Unfortunately, none of these standards were met here.Two absolutely dreadful nights. An experience completely unworthy of a hotel in this category.AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Hotel rooms are spacious and modern.

I upgraded to a room with a view and so paid a fair amount for this hotel. The room was lovely. It was spacious, loads of storage, large terrace and very clean. Breakfast was always excellent. I’m not sure the view was what I expected and the noise from an external air conditioning unit when outside was not great. The location of the hotel is in the A7 so you can hear that but expected with location. You cannot walk anywhere and need a car. Which we did and this was our plan so no issues. Perfectly located for travelling to all the amazing golf courses in the area. I would not return to the hotel because the restaurant in the evening is so poor so you do need to go out every night to eat. Which we did enjoy doing but would have preferred a couple of nights at the hotel.

Great hotel which I have used for many years. Staff are first class.The buffet breakfast is excellent.Rooms are very good and well serviced. The bar/restaurant near the pool is run very well and a Thankyou to Javier Tenorio for his attention.

Our Stay at Hotel Encinar

We stayed in the hotel in this June.Our room was good but not ideal for my semi disabled husband as there were too many steps. However we are going back in September and are in a room with no steps.We found our room nice and quiet a plus.It is more on the lines of a corporate hotel but we went there because it was central to where we wanted to be in Sotogrande having had a property in the area for 24 years.The pool area did lack sunshades but lots of beds and towels in abundance to use. All cared for by the pool attendant/life guard.There is a small gym with air conditioning which I used.The outside bar area was good and my husband enjoyed sitting there looking at the pool with a drink in hand.The food was good at the bar area I loved their Club sandwich.Breakfast was I thought a very good buffet with lots to eat.I felt the bedrooms could have been cleaned a bit more thoroughly daily.The one thing that really stood out for this hotel was the staff they were fabulous.Eva (management at reception) was amazing and willing to help us in anyway.All reception staff were good and spoke English.Re the restaurant/bar all staff were excellent Javier and Maria definitely stood out for us because of their constant help especially with my husband and quick service.We enjoyed our stay very much and will as I mentioned be returning in September.Thank you to all the staff for making it a lovely break for us.
