Location

The hotel is situated between pine forests and dunes. It has a privileged location, right next to the beach with direct access from the southern side. The historical and commercial centre of Rota is only 2.5 km from the hotel, and a bus stop can be found just some metres away from the property. Jerez de la Frontera Airport is around 40 km away and Sevilla Airport is roughly 100 km away.

Facility

The hotel was modernised in 2023. 231 rooms, including 40 junior suites, 14 studios and 168 double rooms, are available to guests in a 4-storey main building and a 3-storey auxiliary building. The multilingual staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Guests receive a welcome drink upon arrival. Amenities available at the hotel include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. 2 lifts and wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. Everyday necessities can be purchased at the supermarket. Guests in search of the perfect souvenir are sure to find it in the gift shop. Children can enjoy the playground. Additional amenities include a newspaper stand, a TV room, a playroom and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the for a fee garage or the for a fee car park. Rooms

Air conditioning and central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Guests can relax on the balcony or terrace. Rooms have a double bed or a sofa bed. Extra beds and children's beds are available upon request and for a fee. A minibar and a desk or, for an additional fee, a safe are also available. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Cleaning on departure is among the services offered. A selection of pillows ensures a comfortable stay. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower, a bathtub and a bidet. A hairdryer, a vanity mirror and bathrobes are provided. For extra comfort in the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. Guests can also book wheelchair-friendly rooms with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms. The hotel has 19 family rooms and non-smoking rooms.

Sport

Sun loungers and parasols are available on the sun terrace. A variety of refreshing drinks await guests at the pool bar. A variety of activities are available at the hotel, for example bocce and beach volleyball or, for a fee, cycling/mountain biking, tennis, golf, Nordic walking and horse riding. With aquafit or, for a fee, windsurfing, paddle boating and sailing available, fans of water sports have plenty of options to choose from. The hotel offers numerous indoor sports, including a gym, table tennis and callisthenics or, for a fee, billiards. Various wellness options are available at the hotel, including a beauty salon, massage treatments, anti-ageing treatments and a solarium. Additional leisure activities include an entertainment programme, a kids' club and live music.

Meals

Various dining options are available, including a dining room, a breakfast room and a bar. Guests can indulge their palates at the restaurant (non-smoking, à la carte and high chairs). Refreshing drinks at the beach bar are a perfect way to enjoy warm weather. Half board is offered as a catering option. A hot breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. Lunch is served as à la carte, and guests can choose between a buffet and a set menu for dinner. Gluten-free meals and vegetarian dishes are available. The chefs will also prepare lactose-free food for an additional charge. The show cooking is a particularly special attraction. For a fee, there are also non-alcoholic beverages, alcoholic beverages and international brands.

    It's very nice, but not showstopping. There is a pool and access to the beach and on-site bar and restaurant. We used very little of the facilities because we were in Rota visiting friends and out every day. However, one morning we paid for a €15 buffet breakfast and it was excellent. I'm glad I didn't pay for it every day as I wouldn't have fitted in my clothes going home and Spanish tostadas are the best and cheapest breakfast option available in most cafes.My only reservation was how we were spoken to one evening in the bar. It was by a member of staff who excelled in patronistation and condescension, rather than hospitality. I voted with my feet and left, resolving not to spend my money in a place that took away any comfort or feeling of ease. He possibly wasn't Spanish as almost everyone else was reasonably friendly and polite.I think my overwhelming feeling of the hotel is that I wouldn't return as it feels as if it is quite snobbish, and if I had been able to book our first choice of hotel, we'd have been much happier. One think to note is that it is very clean and that's always appreciated 👏

    We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights during the Holy Week. The room and the bathroom was very spacious and clean and we had a little seating area outside. We really loved the breakfast which had a rich choice and was presented in a very appetising way. Er also had dinner in the hotel pool restaurant and it was very tasty and well presented. The staff were friendly and attentive. Parking on the hotel premises is not free, but the first 30 minutes or so are free which is enough time to unload and then to park your car outside in public spaces. Originally we wanted to do a lot of sight seeing but we ditched these plans due to the Easter bank holidays. We were very pleasantly surprised that the nearby town of Rota offers a lot of bars and restaurants. We walked there on the white sandy beach in about 30 minutes. I would definitely return to Playa de la Luz.     Deceptive Location Description on Airbnb. Actually in Rota not Cadiz

    I booked a room here after going to the Airbnb website. This hotel had listed on their Airbnb site that they were located in Cadiz when they are actually in Rota Spain 45 minutes away. I tried on three separate occasions to contact them about the discrepancy and they totally ignored me.     Clean, lovely, quiet, beautiful beaches

    Great location, right on a beautiful beach. Very quiet part of town. Rooms were nice. They brought me a mini fridge for my food, but most rooms have one or a mini kitchen.     Great Location Exceptional Staff

    Went to HPL in December over Christmas. The location of the hotel is excellent right on the beach. It is away from the town but we had a rental car so travelling was easy. We visited Cadiz, Jerez and Seville. Since it was christmas, the facilities were reduced. Like the food was moved to a smaller restaurant with limited choices. There was soup, one meat and one fish dish, one vegetarian option like mix vegetable. No live cooking station but there was a roasted meat station. Roast chicken on Christmas. The food was tasty though. Breakfast included fried n scrambled eggs. Sausages, Chuoros which were soggy n running out. french fries again soggy, bacon, continental. Salads. Fruits and breads which were good. The hotel has started charging for parking now but plenty of free parking just outside the hotel. We had booked a studio for the sea view which was great as we were on 2nd Floor. Overall a great stay.
