    Disappointing stay due to renovations, poor management and uncomfortable pool atmosphere

    We have visited this hotel several times before and always had a lovely experience, which makes this review even more disappointing to write. Unfortunately, this stay was by far the worst we’ve had and has completely put us off returning.When we arrived there was no warning that renovation work was taking place. There was loud drilling around the pool during the day, making it difficult to relax, and for most of the week there was also no beer on tap or bar snacks available.Later in the week, the atmosphere around the pool became very uncomfortable due to a large group of guests behaving badly. Children were pouring washing up liquid around the pool area, making the floor slippery, while running around unsupervised. We reported this to staff but felt the situation overall was poorly managed.At one point, a lady returned from the toilet to find her belongings thrown on the floor and her sunbed taken, while members of the group argued with and intimidated her. After witnessing this behaviour ourselves, we no longer felt comfortable spending time around the pool.What made things more frustrating was that on our final day the hotel suddenly displayed signs apologising for the maintenance work, despite guests never being informed beforehand. Snacks and beer on tap also suddenly became available again towards the end of the stay.We understand hotels cannot control every guest, but they can control how situations are handled and communicated. Sadly, this experience has completely changed our opinion of a hotel we previously loved visiting. As you mentioned, during your previous visits you had always had a very positive experience, which is exactly the standard we strive to maintain consistently.Concerning the situation at the pool, we would like to clarify that as soon as it was reported to us—within approximately five minutes—a member of the management team immediately attended, intervened, and spoke directly with the guests involved. The improper use of detergent was stopped at that moment. In addition, the affected guest was personally attended by management, and the situation was addressed with both parties, being properly resolved on site.We fully agree that, although a hotel cannot control the individual behavior of all guests, it is responsible for managing such situations appropriately. In this case, we acted quickly and effectively from the moment we were informed. Nevertheless, we regret that this incident affected your perception of the atmosphere around the pool area.Regarding the bar service, there was no draft beer available for two days due to an issue with the dispensing system (“serpentin”). This was resolved by installing an external tap, and during that time bottled beer was offered, so there was never a lack of product. As for the rest of the snack service, there were no incidents with any other items, and sales remained at normal levels comparable to any other time of the year.It is particularly disappointing for us to read that, after several satisfactory stays, you are considering not returning—especially at a time when the hotel has planned a full refurbishment at the end of this year, which will significantly improve both the facilities and the overall guest experience.At the same time, we must also express that it is disheartening to see how the continuous effort of our team—working daily and collectively to deliver the best possible service—can be overshadowed by a minimum rating based on an isolated and exceptional situation, rather than on the overall aspects such as facilities, buffet quality, service, or the professionalism and friendliness of our staff.We truly value guests like you, who have trusted us on multiple occasions, and we would very much like the opportunity to welcome you again in the future so you can enjoy the hotel at its very best.Thank you once again for your feedback, which undoubtedly helps us continue improving.

    Decent Hotel near Gibralter

    Stayed here a few times and this is a good budget hotel similar to Premier Lodge in UK. Beds are large and rooms are clean. Rooms have a small fridge and the TV has a few English speaking channels BBC, ITV, 4 and 5. I used the bar for food a couple of times and everything was good, a nice lounge and area to sit outside.A big negative was the wifi when i mentioned it i was told because its busy. Not very good in this day and age!!This hotel is much better than the near by AC Hotel, its closer to the town centre, the airport and border. Much better rooms etc.Ask for view facing Gibraltar which is all lit up at night. Definitely recommend.     Great bed for the night!

    I just had the best nights sleep in this hotel, and I never sleep well in hotels! The room was a perfect temperature and bed was really comfy. The shower was powerful and my favourite item in the room was the kettle! 😆 I hate those pod machines so I was ao happy to see a regular kettle. They also provided 2 bottles of water and a fridge. We stayed there so that we could use the main car park at the border and walk across to Gibraltar. Perfect hotel for all our needs. At reception there is also a good vending machine and microwave. Will return in the summer when the pool and pool bar are open.     This hotel was a positive surprise. It's located near bus station and the town centre, a short walk from Gibraltar.The personnel at the reception were nice, and I got my room early. The room is what you can expect of a big chain hotel. I was happy with my room, it even had a balcony with a partial view towards the see.The only disadvantage were the thin walls - there was some noise fro the corridor, but that's a problem in most Spanish hotels. In February the hotel was not full, so it might be worse in the high season.The breakfast buffet was big and not most logically arranged but the food was good.All in all, this hotel was good value for the money.
