  Overall okay, but we wouldn’t return

  We stayed at the hotel for three nights. Overall, our stay was pleasant, but unfortunately it did not quite meet the standards we expected from a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.We had specifically booked a room with direct pool access. However, the pool was not actually accessible directly from our room — we still had to walk to it. We found the photos and description quite misleading in this respect.The room itself was also rather dated and not particularly spacious. The terrace was a nice feature, but unfortunately the terrace table was in very poor condition and really should have been replaced.There were definitely some very positive aspects as well. We really enjoyed the beach area, especially the beach bar, which was beautiful and a lovely place to spend time. The RedLevel offering was also excellent and was one of the highlights of our stay.The biggest disappointment for us, however, was the overall level of service. It was generally fine, but certainly not outstanding. Having stayed at several other Leading Hotels of the World and many five-star hotels, we simply did not feel that the service here matched the standard we would expect from a hotel in this category.Overall, we had a nice stay and enjoyed certain parts of the hotel very much, particularly the beach bar and RedLevel experience. However, considering the positioning and five-star rating of the hotel, we expected considerably more. Unfortunately, it is not a hotel we would choose to return to.   Our sixth visit was as superb as the previous five. The rooms, restaurants, bars, are all top class, spacious, sparkling, and comfortable. But it is the people who make a hotel, not the bricks and mortar, and the team at Melia are superb, from housekeeping, all the way up to the General Manager, who maintains very high visibilty to guests. Everything is done with a smile, nothing is too much trouble. It is a little unfair to single out individuals, but Christina, Angeles and Gertrudis in the Patio Restaurant were superb. We will be back next year!   Beautiful Location, Great Restaurants, Some Room for Inprovement

  The grounds are beautiful and we very much enjoyed relaxing at the beach, eating at the restaurants, and enjoying breakfast in the courtyard. There were a few areas for improvement, though, that I thought were surprising for such a pricey hotel. First, there are no personal touches. The hotel can feel a bit sterile from that perspective. I suppose it’s a chain so maybe that shouldn’t be surprising. The cappuccinos at breakfast were most definitely out of an automatic machine and quite weak, a small thing that disappointed both of us for the cost of our stay. I hope they upgrade to proper, person-operated espresso machines! Finally, I had a bit of a weird experience at the spa and the spa staff ask for you to sign a sheet saying you’ve told them of anything negative in person, something I found a bit unusual. My husband however loved his massage and would definitely see his therapist again. I wish I had her name! Despite these considerations, we’d absolutely go back for the beach, the beautiful grounds and the restaurants!   What a fabulous hotel. Wonderful staff and an outstanding beachfront location.This hotel is beautiful in every way, exceptionally clean and immaculately maintained throughout.We had a lovely bedroom with a view over the golf course and very good amenities. The gym was also excellent.The pool area is lovely and just steps away from the amazing 6km beach.Collectively, the staff are among the best we have ever come across. Consistently warm, friendly and extremely helpful.Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice, and the hotel restaurants were also excellent.The sunbeds were comfortable, although I do think a few of them are beginning to need replacement.Thank you to Palacio de Sancti Petri Gran Meliá for a wonderful holiday.   Amazing Setting Makes it Special

  This is a must visit if you are in this area. The hotel is right on the beach and has a wonderful pool as well. The setting is lovely overlooking the Atlantic. The courtyard is huge with several sitting areas to relax in both the sun and the shade. There are several dining options throughout the hotel including a 2-star Michelin rated restaurant (Alevante) which is worth a visit, though pricey. As is the case with all Melia hotels, stay in the Red Level rooms as you get several extras that are worth the price, We really enjoyed ourselves. One comment for non-Spanish speakers. We found the level of English among the staff here as well as generally everywhere in this part of Spain to be below that in the cities and elsewhere. It is more difficult to communicate and there are certainly fewer English speaking guests at this hotel (we actually enjoyed this) than you will find elsewhere. Not a bad thing, but worth noting.
