    Paradise on the Costa de la Luz

    This was a revisit as we had stayed in 2010 after the hotel we had booked turned out not to be up to standard. It was like paradise then, and it still is now. In fact we didn't notice much change since then, which was absolutely fine by us. We stayed for ten days, not really what Paradors are for as people stay for a short stop while travelling. It was the perfect place to relax, particularly as the weather warmed up with the Atlantic breeze keeping things pleasant. We were offered an upgrade to a 'Superior room' (at a cost) with view over pool and the sea - probably most rooms have that but ours was in a block that had slightly bigger rooms. It was a very pleasant room, lots of space for everything and likewise a spacious bathroom. We had a balcony with table and chairs with the lovely view, perfect for a cup of tea or a beer. It was so peaceful, the only sounds bird song. Being in the Donana National Park we were surrounded by pine trees. Great pool (we thought there could be better sunbeds by the pool) : there are 181 steps down to the beach which was almost deserted when we first arrived but got busier over the Pentecost weekend. Great local wines and food was good but the menu does not change and helpings are huge!As with all Paradors comfy bed, good toiletries and great wifi everywhere.

    Located in a really special area, and this Parador was superb. All the comforts you would expect (except for the lack of tea making in the room) and great staff.     A wonderful place to spend several days

    This is the third time we stayed at the Parador de Mazagón and hope to return many more times. It's located in the Doña Ana nature preserve and some 150 steps above the ocean. Stairs connect the hotel to the long beach below. Free bicycles and many kilometers of paved trails are available to explore the beautiful natural habitat. The grounds are well-kept and the parador itself is attractive, although it is not in a historic building like many others paradores. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable with a great view of the ocean and sunset. We enjoyed dining at the parador -- good food and wines with the excellent service that we have come to expect at the paradores.

    Relaxing stay close to beach

    Easy to find. Plenty of paid outdoor parking on site. Staff all pleasant and helpful. Whole hotel spotlessly clean. Large garden with plenty of loungers and shade, with view to sea. Room 58 had nice view of garden looking over the pool to the sea with a balcony in the sun all afternoon and evening. It was large, comfortable and quiet. Lots of different birds in garden, particularly impressed by nighthawk hunting round lights for insects after dark. Garden is on clifftop, so long flight of wooden stairs down to quiet huge sandy beach.Breakfast and dinner up to usual Parador standard, only grumble would be poor selection of gluten free food at breakfast.A relaxing place to stay, close to the beach, worth the quite long drive to get there.
