    Ok for one night.

A hostel-type place which accommodates local workers as well as tourists it seems. Not even a one-star hotel. My room had a bathroom but no outside window, so quite dark and dismal. Other rooms might be better if they have an outside window. The reception guy was friendly and pleasant. La Linea town itself is a short walk to the border and there are a few cafes/bars around. There is an exceptionally good local cafe near on the bus 'station' roundabout.

    Great base for exploring Gibraltar

    rating07 Jun 2024

The hostal is located almost in the city center, close to Santuario de la Inmaculada Concepción, which is makes it easier tofind the hostal in pretty densely built town. The room was quite large, but with no fridge and not optimal bed alignment, which made usage of space slightly inconvenient. The bathroom was large with a bathtub. There were two electrical sockets in the room, TV, AC, and wardrobe. There is no elevator in the building. The hostal is quite quiet, especially if your room windows are not facing the Calle del Sol.The Internet is stable and quite quick. You need to ask for the password as there is no mention of it in the room. There is small Dia just around the corner in 100m, El Jamon in 300m, Mercadona in 500m. There is nice large park on the border with Gibraltar in 700m.There are a lot of restaurants and bars in the area, where hostal is located. The bus station is also close in 750m, where you can take bus to Algeciras/Tarifa or towards Malaga. And Gibraltar crossing point is is 1.1km from the hostal. 500m to a beach Poniente on the West in the bay of Algeciras and 1.4km to a beach Levante on the East, which is very long strip of sand facing an open sea. I do not recommend Gibraltar beaches as they are pretty small. The western beaches are in the Algeciras baywith lots of ships in it. And eastern beaches are far away and are in the shade of the rock in the second part of the day.

Very good value and perfect location for Gibraltar

    rating09 Dec 2019

I think the average 3/5 review is a bit unfair. It's very economical. Slept very well. Perfect for Gibraltar, which is why people come to La Linea. The staff were polite and helpful with me. But it's worth being polite back- people react to how they're treated. Cuts both ways. I'd recommend people have a look round La Linea. It's quite a unique border town. I had a great, typical Spanish breakfast in one cafe (pan con tomate). The town has its notoriety but that won't affect tourists (I was a tourist). Better food there than in Gibraltar (which is why Gibraltans often cross the border to eat!)

Wonderful stay, warm and great nights sleep

    rating20 Nov 2019

We stayed for one night, the beds were so comfy, slept really well. Really clean. Staff were super friendly. Secure car parking. Couldn't ask for better. It was cold when we arrived, but they supplied extra blankets and we also had heating.

A budget hotel near to Gibraltar ideal for a few nights stay

    rating05 Oct 2019

I stopped here for 5 nights at the end of September 2019. I arrived early but was able to leave my bags behind reception. The reception staff were friendly and was able to check in quickly. The room was tidy with TV, Air conditioning and storage for clothes. Bathroom was basic with shower over the bath. There was daily housekeeping with fresh towel. From the hotel it was a 20 minute walk to Gibraltar. Locally there are plenty of shops, bars and places to eat. The only let down was how well the bathroom was cleaned. I kept on finding hairs on the floor which were not mine. Just needed a good sweep. The bathmat in the bath could also be changed as it was not looking very nice. Also the bracket holding the shower head needed to be repaired. The Wifi was ok but could be slow at peak times and did loose connection from time to time.I would stay here again.
