Location

The hotel is located on the beach, near the Golf course Costaballena and between enclaves such as the charismatic Rota, Chipiona and Sanlucar de Barrameda in the Bay of Cádiz. The hotel is located in an area characterized by the extensive vineyard in Jerez and the cartujanos riding stables, the origin of the extraordinary Andalusian horses.

Facility

The hotel has 324 non-smoking rooms, which are located on 3 storeys and are reachable by lift. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. Sport

Guests can work out or just relax in the outdoor and indoor pools. Kids can splash about in a special swimming area just for them. The pool area also includes a hot tub, a waterslide and a pool bar. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features sun loungers and parasols, is time well spent. A variety of activities such as cycling/mountain biking, bocce, crazy golf and archery or, for a fee, golf, are offered at the hotel. With water aerobics and aquafit available, the hotel also caters to water sports enthusiasts. Guests can enjoy a wide range of indoor sports, including a gym, table tennis, billiards, callisthenics and aerobics. There is a wellness area with a spa and a hammam and, for an additional fee, a sauna, a steam bath, a spa, massage treatments and a solarium. Guests of all ages have the opportunity to enjoy a fun entertainment programme.

Meals

Dining facilities include a café and a bar. The restaurant has air conditioning and high chairs for children. Catering options include bed and breakfast, half board, full board and all-inclusive. For breakfast, lunch and dinner, guests serve themseves at the buffet or choose their preferred fare from the menu (for dinner). Gluten-free meals and vegetarian dishes can be prepared on request. The hotel also offers snacks. The show cooking is a particularly special attraction. The hotel offers a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

    Clean and spacious, well located for the beach but bus journeys to local towns.

    Lovely clean and spacious hotel for families. Enough for facilities for entertainment, pool, water slides and crazy golf are a few.Great food and choice. Excellent location for clean spacious beaches and buses to Rota and Chipiona (nearest towns) go from outside the hotel.

    Great Family hotel with good facilities for the children.Food is also good and the actual hotel in general is very clean.I would certainly recommend the hotel for families with young children.Staff are very helpful and friendly.We will certainly go back.     really disappointed in this hotel- it is NOT 4star! they shut the restaurants and bars leaving just the food hall and entertainment bar which is not what was advertised and meant we were all crammed together which was hideous. the food was repeated night after night- and was awful- the so called stations was someone frying fish and meat and left in a tray to get cold - same with chips- cold crunchy chips! bread was cheap and on some days the “baguettes” hadn’t been cooked properly. our mattress’s were broke - even feeling the springs pop-alongside the worst pillows i have ever seen- so bad we feel we need a holiday to get better as our backs are now so painful. also they do not give you a kettle in the room and refuse to let you have one as we weren’t in a superior room- i have never heard of anything like this before and i have travelled the world. the staff are miserable and work hard as it appeared to be very understaffed. there was one beach bar open outside the hotel that closed early-1830 ish- so absolutely no alternatives to their awful food unless you want to pay between €21 and €27 euros each way in taxi to Rota- the bus goes every 2hrs and stops running at 1900- and doesn’t run weekends.the shared toilets some did not lock and the pool ones had no hand soap the entire weekwe didn’t get what was advertised and were disappointed with quality and lack of choice- feel abit cheated to be honest Hotel- cmanager, Owner at Playaballena Hotel, responded to this review Dear Karen,We thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.We sincerely apologize that your experience fell short of your expectations.     We did not have the best experience. We found it was a little run down - not the best impression when there’s a broken window for the duration of our stay in reception and water fountains that do not work. We felt unwelcome as British tourists. All staff just seemed unhelpful. There was no soap in the main reception toilet for the duration of our stay, I did mention this to reception but still none provided. It was not a surprise when myself, husband and 5 year old got very sick on day 4 of the holiday. Jet2 did not care! We then had to spend the next 2 days in our room.
