  We had a 6 night stay here as part of our twin centre with Portugal, the apartments are really large 2 bedroom & 2 bathroom we had a top floor one overlooking the pools & sea, we saw fantastic sunrises & sunsets on the large balcony. Great cooking facilities we ate in some nights, along with dishwasher & washing machine. Great pressure on the shower, & a bonus having baths as well. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that wifi is only in the reception area which is a pain unless you don't mind using data roaming all the time. Also Northern European guests who love a Kettle in the room!!! We ate in the Buffet one evening which had an excellent choice & a good well priced wine list. We would return.

  3rd great stay at Playamarina

  We have just returned from our third stay at these apartments. We were very well looked after once again, and on request onour first day were moved from our pool view room to a fourth floor apartment with views of Las Marismas out towards Ayamonte where you can experience the most amazing sunsets. The apartments are so well equipped we now only travel with hand luggage for a 10 day stay, and use the washing machine a couple of times while we are there. The pool area is very nice, clean and quiet and you can obtain beach towels from reception for a €10 refundable deposit per towel. The cleaning services are excellent too. The apartments are really well located for the marina and the lovely fishing village of Punta del Moral with an easy bus ride into Ayamonte for €1.40. We had great service from the reception team (especially Marta and her manager) and when our car was hit in a supermarket car park they advised us what to do and called the police station to let them know we would be coming (and hopefully that our Spanish was pretty bad!). I have been very happy with all our stays here and really looking forward to our next visit.   Great apartments with helpful stop

  We had a lovely stay at the Playa Marina. We were allocated a nice 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment overlooking the pool but requested a change to a view overlooking the marsh, as we are keen birdwatchers. The young lady on reception kindly arranged this for us without any qualms. The 2nd apartment was very similar with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and shower room. It was very handy having a washing machine, we didn't use the dishwasher there being only the two of us. If you are staying over 5 days you get a welcome pack with drinks, ham, cheeses and toasted bread plus a pack with washing up liquid, cloths and pan scrubbers. A hairdryer isn't provided nor teatowels. The apartments are cleaned once a week, plus bedding and towels. The tv has no English channels. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant which cost €44 for two. It was buffet style with salads and soups for starters, pork or fish course for mains and good choice of desserts. The hotel is ideally placed for walks around the marsh and is few minutes walk to the marina where there are some nice places to eat. We also had some lovely meals at a restaurant just round the corner from the hotel on the beach. There is a bus that goes to Ayamonte which is a nice town about 15 minutes away, with some good shops, cafes, park and museum etc. The bus stop is just a bit further along from the hotel. The resort of Isla Canela is very relaxed and quiet with beautiful Arabic style hotels and buildings, it is very Spanish so a lot of the staff in the restaurants speak little English. If you walk across to the other side of the marina there are 2 or 3 more restaurants at the little village of Punta Del Moral which is very pleasant to walk around. We went on a nice boat trip which cost €10 each including prawns and a drink and goes up to Isla Cristina and back. The beach is beautiful and stretches for miles with a nice promenade to walk along there is a row of shrubs etc separating the beach from the prom.   Lovely location, lovely staff, tired apartments

  We have been to this lovely, very Spanish resort before - it’s laid back but there are a good choice of restaurants and bars. You can wander along the lovely promenade and round the marina. There is a beautiful long beach. We haven’t been wowed by the apartments though, however they weren’t expensive; perhaps we are being over critical.The sofa bed wasn’t made up for our arrival; no problem we asked for some sheets. However the mattress was very stained. The locks to both bathroom doors are broken. There is a beautiful private terrace however only four chairs and a postage stamp table; we are a family of five. Both bathrooms have stained baths/ showers and the dining area chairs are filthy.That said; the apartment was generally clean, there was a lovely welcome pack. The apartment is spacious and there is as I said lots of outside space. Mini golf and table tennis at the hotel are free to use which my kids have loved. The pool areas are clean, even in August there is no early morning rush doe sun beds. You are direct access onto the beach. There is entertainment on but no pressure to join in. There is a reasonable supermarket at the bottom of the block ( which is a bit like a maze ) and staff are lovely . Would we come back - not to these apartments but I don’t feel like we have been ripped off either .   Probably the best apartment we've ever stayed in

  We had a fantastic 2-week stay here, in September this year.First of all, our flight was delayed for most of our first day, and we arrived around midnight or later. The bars were closed, and there was nowhere nearby that we knew might be open, and we were tired, having hung around Luton all day long, and flown. So it was brilliant that the fridge had a few cans of Cruzcampo beer, and some cheese, plus a few other edibles. I don’t know if this was left there for us by the hotel or not, or whether the people who stayed there previously had left them – but then the maids who cleaned the room had to have left them, too. It was one of the best beers I ever had.The apartment is large: a large, well-furnished living area that leads to a really big balcony overlooking the marshes and Punta del Moral. The balcony had a table and four chairs. There are two bedrooms, one with a doubnle bed, one with two singles. Both have wardrobes, well equipped with hangars. There are two bathrooms, one with a shower, one with a bath and shower. Queueing for the loo for once was not a feature of our holiday. There were plenty of sheets and towels.The kitchen is open-plan from the living room, and is so well equipped we didn’t have to buy anything, except washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets – yes, a dishwasher. The dishwasher worked fine. It also has a washing machine, though we didn’t use that. It has a full complement of plates, bowls, cutlery, etc. It also has a coffee machine, one of the permanent filter ones. No kettle, though. Not a big deal. The cooker worked fine. There is a microwave, but we didn’t use that.Overlooking the marshes doesn’t sound so great, but the marshes – las marismas – are a beautiful feature of the area. People may like them or hate them, of course, but the landscape was in fact ever-changing, the tide coming in and out to fill parts of them up. We got the sun in the afternoon on the balcony – perfect, as I don’t like eating breakfast in the full glare of sunshine – and that meant that we saw every beautiful sunset.The staff are great, really friendly and helpful. The pool was the initial draw for us. You may know that swimming in the Atlantic is often a bit difficult – strong currents, and windy – so it’s essential to stay in a place with a good pool. There are two pools, one in its own area. The large, main pool is a big 8-shaped one, and there is also a separate children’s pool with a slide. The pool area is brilliant, with plenty of loungers and umbrellas, and a bar. Except for one or two occasions, there is no music played around the pool, which is great. The indoor bars are nice, too, and the staff all cheerful. There is entertainment there, there, much of it aimed at children – some bingo, some singing, a variety show, a dance competition. Not our kind of thing, but it’s still good that it’s there to give the place some life.We were doing self-catering, but went to the buffet restaurant one night. A great spread of hot and cold fresh food, starters. Main and desserts, and drinks included in the price. Very good value.The apartments are a ten-minute walk from the little bars of Isla Canela, and also from Punta del Moral, across a short bridge, where there are some great fish restaurants. It is even closer to the beach, and to a quiet landscaped walkway that runs parallel to the beach.A great little supermarket is right downstairs, selling anything you need for basic meals. The people who worked there were really helpful. We were also right above the Vostok Rent A Car place, and, again, I recommend them. Alberto, who runs it alone, gave us a good deal, and is very friendly.If it’s not obvious, we loved our time at Apartamentos Playa Marina, and I hope we’ll go back next year.
