  What we expected, but...

  We stayed here for a week All Inclusive, and got what we were expecting, but... The hotel is a mix of All Inclusive and Half Board; and it is frequently very unclear what is included in the AI and what isn't. (This packet of crisps is... this one isn't! This drink is... this one isn't!) There is an Italian restaurant on site, which is also not included in the AI and to eat there is an extra 29 euros per person per meal - this wasn't made clear to us when we booked.My wife was a big fan of the Tinto y Limon, so make sure to ask for this instead of Sangria, which (for some reason) carries an additional charge.The staff were friendly and helpful but mostly don't speak great English. That was fine for us, because I speak good Spanish; but if you don't speak Spanish I think it could be quite a frustrating experience.The AI is very-much "Rationed By Queue" at peak times - service is slow, and the swipe card system used by the hotel doesn't help.The food was fine; but the labelling was very chaotic - some things labelled, many things not - as if the labeller got bored halfway through! It was also quite samey. The pastries at breakfast were particularly good; but the puddings were a bit boring and clearly aimed at young children - lots of jelly + rice pudding!The AI drinks options are fairly narrow - e.g. only one brand of beer - I like Cruzcampo, but if you don't, you are going to be paying for any other option.The swimming pool is lovely and our room was clean and comfortable at night with air-conditioning. We didn't have any problems getting a sunbed the week we stayed (September 2026) but if the hotel was busier we can see this might have been an issue.   Lovely hotel, lovely staff, lovely food

  The hotel is amazing. As soon as you walk in it smells nice, looks clean and really impressed us, the room was spacious, clean and we had a lovely view on both sides of the balcony, one being the sea and other being the marsh land water which looked amazing when the sun set, the pool was well looked after and good slides for our 6 year old, not too big so felt safe, had a lovely kids area too with water sprinklers and more slides. We were half board and the breakfast and dinner choices were really good! Was something for everyone and everything had really good flavour and tasted fresh. Especially the ribs and prawns they were amazing, we ignored previous reviews of English people complaining about the language barrier as all the staff spoke to us in great English and we were able to get eveything we needed- I found it nice and authentic that there was a lot of locals. The marina is only a 5 min walk and it’s lovely and quiet, has a good choice of places to eat and have cocktails etc. there is also a supermarket 2 mins down the road. And behind the hotel leads to the beach and a stretch of walkway with people offering hair braiding etc we didn’t want to come home thank you for an amazing stay !   We have just returned from a family all-inclusive holiday of 10 days, and it was really lovely. The location was great and quiet. The staff were very helpful and polite, but not always willing to speak English, which was sometimes frustrating. We noticed that English-speaking guests are served in Spanish or Portuguese. The rooms were nice and clean, with comfortable beds. The food was of really good quality, with plenty of choices. Drinks in the bars on the all-inclusive are not just local, but also include foreign brands, which is very rare and a great benefit of this hotel. No issues finding a sunbed by the pool during the day; free towels at the pool. In general, a great holiday. Thank you, Playacanela Hotel.   We are a family of 4 that spent one week at Playacanela hotel and it was amazing. The room was big, we stayed at the 5th floor and the view was just perfect. The staff was lovely and always caring. The food was enough and tasty. Very clean. For the kids the pool is good. Just 5 min walking to the beach. We had a great time ????
