    Brilliant stay

    rating28 May 2026

This was our third time staying at Benalmádena Palace Spa, and it's probably one of our favourite family holidays we've ever had. This time we came back with friends and their children, and once again we had a fantastic stay. The staff truly make this hotel what it is. They can't do enough for you and are always smiling, friendly, and helpful. It was great to see so many familiar faces again, including Monica, Santi, Alejandro, Natasha, Juan, Patricka. The level of service is consistently excellent. The hotel is spotless, and the cleaning staff do a fantastic job. A special mention goes to Isabella, who looked after our room and was absolutely lovely throughout our stay. The biggest shout-out has to go to Steffi. She goes above and beyond for the children and genuinely makes their holiday experience so special. My kids wanted to spend more time at the Beny Club with Steffi than they did by the pool! 🤣 She's been there every time we've visited and always remembers my daughter, which means so much. The mini disco and children's entertainment are brilliant because of the effort and energy she puts into them. I really hope she knows how appreciated she is, as she's a huge part of why families have such a great holiday here.I'd also like to mention Vero and Fabi from the kids' club. They are absolutely lovely and do a fantastic job with the children. One downside this year was finding sunbeds by the children's pool. We noticed a lot of people reserving beds with towels and then not returning for hours, sometimes not until late in the day. We also saw families with older children using the main pool but keeping their beds at the children's pool because it had better sun. This made it difficult for families with younger children to find somewhere to sit, which was a little frustrating.Another small issue was being told we couldn't eat snacks we'd purchased in the hotel by the pool unless they came from the snack bar. As the snack bar had limited options, this seemed a little unfair, especially as the snacks had been bought on-site.That said, these were only minor issues. Overall, we had another wonderful stay and will definitely be back again next year. Benalmádena Palace continues to be one of our favourite places to holiday, and that's largely thanks to the incredible staff who work so hard to make every guest feel welcome.

    Mixed experience

    rating27 May 2026

A bit of a mixed bag for me, as some things were really good, and some things were very frustrating/disappointing - I was torn between a 3 or 4 star review, it felt like with a few little tweaks this could easily get 4-5 stars, but just lets itself down at times.First the good:Lovely hotel, loads of facilities, big outdoor pool and lovely indoor pool too, sauna/steam room/jacuzzi/gym/Pilates studio, football pitch, padel court, and loads of sunbeds round the pool, plus other things I probably missed - all of which seem to be well looked after and maintained. The kids entertainers were by far the hardest working and friendliest staff, and couldnt do enough to make sure the kids were all happy and entertained. Most afternoons there were also some kind of activities for all to do - water polo, or water volleyball, archery or darts etc - it was never too full on but was enough to keep things from being boring.Food was generally good quality, if a little repetitive at times. Room was nice and spacious, lovely to have a little kitchen and fridge and table and chairs etc, balcony was a good size. The hotel is at the very end of the strip, and there isnt much around it, so its a bit of a walk to get to any shops/bars etc, but taxis are easy enough and cheap enough so not the end of the world. Not the not so good:The hotel has a lot of little unnecessary rules, that just take the fun away from everything - and all seem aimed to maximise their money making - there is a supermarket nearby, but you are not allowed ANY outside food and drink by the pool area - and its not a case of food not being allowed, if you buy it in the (expensive!) onsite snack bar its fine - but if you bring crisps or a sandwich you made yourself or a can of pepsi etc from the supermarket, the life guards will come and tell you off - it seems so unnecessary. One of our party was told off for having a can of lemon fanta as "outside food is not allowed" - it was a hot day and we need to stay hydrated, and dont want to pay nearly 3 eurios for a drink from the bar! we also witnessed a mum giving her young sun a sandwich and some crisps from her bag, and again was told off by the lifeguards, it just felt so petty! then we saw people getting told their rubber rings were "too big" for the pool?! WTF is that? standard sized rings used everywhere! low and behold, the onsite shop sell slightly smaller than standard rings - and they are fine! so the pool is filled with all the same rings that everyone is forced to buy onsite. Its a bit pathetic. You are not allowed to "reserve" sun loungers, a great rule, but again its enforced over the top - I get not putting out towels at 6am, but one day my sun and I went down to the pool with out stuff after breakfast, around 9am, but our stuff down ready, and were going to pop to the supermarket for some water and bread- as we went to walk off, a lifeguard appears to tell me we cant reserve beds - I dont know what they call reserving, I was going to be gone for 10mins at the most, just didnt want to carry all our stuff down to the supermarket and back - in the end we left stuff by the pool area, not on sunbeds, went to shop and back, and ended up on the same sunbeds we were going to use anyway ! Also saw others leave towels and pop inside for a coffee, and have their towels removed by the lifeguards - it didnt seem like reserving if you are just popping away for a few minutes! Also, the lifeguards seem to spend all their time acting more like security guards, patrolling the pool telling people off for breaking these petty rules, instead of actually keeping an eye on people in the pool who might be in trouble. Its just silly.Rooms are only cleaned 1-2 times a week, not the end of the world, but not sure why, I thought daily housekeeping was standard in most hotels. Our room had dust and sand in it when we arrived, in the corners of the room, that were still there when we left - oh and their are signs that even when they do clean the room, they wont clean the kitchen area - and instead leave a "Cleaning pack" for you to clean it yourself- again just seems odd - its not self-catering its advertised as a "Spa hotel" so not sure why they dont clean.Staff on reception and kids club were lovely and friendly, buy staff in the bars and around the pool were just grumpy and rude, didnt seem to like serving people, wander off to do some minor job while there is a queue waiting for drinks, and seem to do their best to avoid serving you or ingore people. Puts you off getting a drink there. It feels like if they relaxed a bit and found a better balance, it would be so much better. I understand not wanting people bringing their own alcohol in and drinking by the pool, but not allowing a sandwich or can of soft drink or bottle of squash, seemed really petty.

Sixth time visitors, and are already planning next year

    rating24 May 2026

As mentioned in the title, this is our sixth time here, and we are already looking at booking 2027. As a family with two boys who 8 & 10, this Hotel is beyond perfect.Rooms are great, especially the 2-bed rooms if you need them. Pools are great. Breakfast is great; and what you really notice is that everything, the entire hotel, is spotless. Always, spotless. This year we decided to book Half Board, and it was a good decision. We have had buffet-style dinner in all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, but never in Europe, and have read some mixed reviews. In this case though, we were very impressed. Each night has its own theme, but there is also a Wok kitchen, kids area, burger grill and pizza section if the theme night is not to your taste. The vegetarian options, which was vital for the veggie in our group, were really impressive and in no way repetitive. Plus we were hugely impressed with how well-cooked the dishes were, and how frequently they were refreshed. But, and I cannot stress this enough, the Animation staff are really what sets this place apart from everywhere else. The team are amazing, every single one of them. Our boys cried on their last day as they didn't want to say goodbye. Steffi, Natasha, Vero, Eva and Fabi. They are just unbelievable. If there was a small number of children they would play games with them, if the kids grouped up to play, they left them be. There are planned activities, games, daily themes. And the sheer energy they put into everything they do, I have no idea how they do it. Every child is known by name, what they like to do, how they like to do it. Our boys have a major soft spot for Steffi and Natasha as we all remember each other from previous visits, this time our eldest was stuck to Vero as she was just so playful. This year we had some friends from Germany join us with a 6 year old boy, he loved everything and wants to come with us again next year.Outside of that, it really is the staff that make the visit. Benji in Beny’s Bar is top class. Ramon, Pelayo, Ana Belen, Maria, Belen, Alajandro & Alvaro all really helpful and accommodating. Isa & Aroa kept our room particularly clean.OVERALLTo be honest, we love this place. The rooms are good, beds are comfy, facilities are impressive and there are very very few negatives. With its location and price point, it gets even better. And with Steffi, Natasha, Vero, Eva and Fabi, if you have kids then booking this Hotel is a no-brainer, it genuinely is.

    Great family getaway!

    rating23 May 2026

Fantastic hotel, and it has to be said that the cleaning staff work tirelessly to maintain such a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout. Their hard work is clearly visible and very much appreciated. It’s also worth mentioning how brilliant the kids club is. The girls do an amazing job making sure the children truly enjoy their holiday. Our son met Stepi, Fabi and Vero, and every single time he was greeted with such warmth and enthusiasm. He always left smiling — and usually a little sad that the fun had to end!
