Great views but receptionist not fit for her position and ruined the stay, very unfair shock deposit.

    rating07 Apr 2026

This hotel could be so much better. there is one staff member in particular, at reception who needs to be taken in hand for her rudeness. I even found her to be very spiteful. I'll be as honest as I can in this review. Here goes...We arrived here for a family gathering, my 50th birthday and had booked a deluxe seaview room. I had phoned and requested by email a free upgrade to a penthouse suite with a hot tub if possible as advised in a phonecall with a member of staff. He had told me it was highly likely that a free upgrade would be possible as the hotel would be quiet at that time and to request in writing through the booking email. We were unsure until check in what the case would be. So when we checked in we were told by this receptionist that we were being upgraded for free. Delighted, we gave our passports over and checked in. We were then told we needed to pay a 400e deposit. This puts a hold of that amount on your bank account which means you cannot spend that money until it's released which can take up to a few days after checkout. This came out of nowhere. Not once were we advised this and to be quite honest we had no provision in place. That is a huge amount of money to hand over without notice and I found it very embarrassing to have to make phone calls in order to get this arranged. Luckily I got this sorted but I found the whole thing extremely out of order. The room itself was nice, fantastic views. The roof terrace and hot tub not so great, very run down and the hot tub we would later discover was very dirty with a filthy greasy brown residue all around the rim. I did notice a couple of ants on the floor but as we were hungry, we left to go out to eat. We came back later that evening with leftover pizza which we left on the counter in the kitchen. We got into the hot tub and realised how filthy it was which was very unpleasant, we all showered ourselves to get clean. It was disgusting. The next morning there were hundreds of ants on the kitchen counters, in the bathroom, including the drawers and all over the floors. I reported the issues to reception and they sent staff to clean the room. Lovely ladies I will add, and absolute credit to the hotel. The maintenance man came and used a spray to clean down the counters for the ants. it didn't really work as we still had ants all through our stay, we just had to clean them up as we went along ourselves. The hot tub still hadn't been cleaned and the next day when passing reception I said this to the same receptionist who had checked us in and asked her very nicely could it be done. She was very rude and condescending in her response and told me that the hot tub had never been dirty, in fact it had been prepared for us, she didn't even look up from the desk to talk to me. I of course told her it in fact it had brown gunk stuck to the sides where we would have to put our skin in contact with. She then told me I had to pay more money for my room because the upgrade wasn't free after all. Now this is where the spite comes in. I was totally bewildered and asked her how as she had stated this when handing me the room key. Her response was because I had asked in an email and agreed to pay. This is incorrect as I had never agreed to pay in any email. Then she tried to say that the upgrade was free but the hot tub was not. The hot tub we couldn't use because it was filthy!!! She couldn't produce any email but she tried oh she tried and inevitably just made herself look very unprofessional and unfit for her position. Our hot tub was eventually cleaned but we didn't bother using it. To be honest the whole exchange with this woman made a big impact on our enjoyment of the hotel. I was extremely embarrassed as this happened in front of a good few other people and it was like she was trying to make it look like I was trying to get out of paying for my room. We tipped the cleaning staff daily for the wonderful job they did each day. We were far from looking to underpay anyone. We even paid extra for one night when a friend came and stayed with us in our room after my birthday dinner out.I would recommend anyone who's thinking of booking this hotel to check about this deposit because it seriously impacts your budget. The hotel bar and restaurant was closed as well as the pool so there were no amenities in the hotel at all other than your room. I won't be booking here again for the reasons mentioned and especially for this one woman. Otherwise the staff were fantastic. It just shows how that one rotten apple can spoil the whole barrel.

Wonderful old beauty with views of Gibraltar

    rating12 May 2025

We have had an excellent experience here. I’m giving it just four stars because it’s a little worn but our suite on the fourth floor/penthouse has been fabulous. Unlike another review there are in fact five elevators, three of which are glass so you can look at the mountain as you ascend, and our hot tub works beautifully so we’re in it every night when we get back from dinner as it’s just getting dark at 10 PM with the full moon rising! Plus we actually have a double-decker veranda with a hot tub on the top floor and sofas plus a dining table on the lower. There’s a small kitchen with a microwave, coffee maker, pots and pans, etc. The bathroom has soap, shampoo, conditioner in bottles so we don’t have to bring our own. The hairdryer fell apart our first morning and the repair man was there to fix it while we were having breakfast! The housekeeping service is excellent. We are enjoying this place enormously!

    Christmas Break

    rating09 Feb 2025

I thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas getaway to Marbella. We have stayed at the Guadalin Suites over the years and always appreciate our stays; it's a shame the jacuzzies on the balconies haven't been working for the past few years. They were such a lovely amenity when they were functional. The hotel breakfast is quite nice, with a wide selection. Although we booked a room-only stay, it was pleasant to have breakfast there some mornings. The rooms are spacious, each with its own ensuite bathroom. The balconies are large compared to other hotels in the area. The suites are a short five-minute walk to the beach and the promenade, which offers a pleasant stroll into central Marbella. There are many lovely restaurants near the Suites, and convenient shopping options, including a Lidl next door and a Carrefour across the street. The location is excellent for a relaxing break, and taxis are readily available outside the hotel to take you to central Marbella or Puerto Banus. While some areas of the hotel could benefit from some minor improvements, overall, it was an enjoyable stay. The pool area was closed during our visit due to the off-season, but it appears to be a great feature for summer guests, with plenty of sun loungers available.

Excellent location. Couple of minutes walking to the beautiful beach and the promenade, 15 minutes to the old town. You can easely reach Puerto Banus, Canada Center Mall and other surroundings by car or bus. Very spacious clean suites, equipped kitchen, balcony, very good Wi-Fi, cable TV with some English channels. There is a big pool and free parking around. The hotel itself and surrondings are very clean. The hotel offers on site Italian restaurant, where you can enjoy breakfast or brunch. The staff is nice and helpful.Great for couples or family. Enjoy!
