Unforgettable Stay at Balcon de Europa!

First time in Nerja and Balcon de Europa hotel. We stayed at their Junior Suite Deluxe for 4 nights since we were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. We were blown away by the hotel location with that beautiful ocean view day in and day out. We were able to park in their garage which was not an easy task. But, thankfully, Jose Antonio from the Reception gathered us from the entrance of the public parking to their parking garage. It went very smooth. We absolutely loved the hotel. Beautifully decorated, clean and wonderful efficient and friendly staff. Our Suite was amazingly large and beautiful! The bedding was very comfortable which made for wonderful peaceful nights. We found a complimentary bottle of champagne in the room in honor of our anniversary which we enjoyed in our balcony. The breakfast buffet was delicious and plenty to choose from. Coffee machines with espressos! And, again, the view! We loved the beach, small but perfect. There are beach chairs next to the restaurant or you can get chairs and umbrellas and stay on the sand. Never had an issue finding chairs or umbrellas. We had lunch at the Nautico Beach Club (part of the hotel) a few times. The food was always fresh and delicious. We had two paellas during our stay. The restaurant staff was very effective, professional and friendly. Thank you all for making our stay so wonderful!

The View is the only positive thing

Having stayed previously in Nerja in April this year and 2 years ago , I booked into the Hotel Balcon for 2 nights with my husband . I previously stayed in a 3 star and another 4 star but they did not have the spectacular view that the Balcon offered so I decided to treat ourselves . It cost €486 for 2 nights with breakfast and sea view . This is more than double what i previously paid . The other hotels were within 5 minutes walk .Unfortunately, the day we arrived it was raining and the cafe area was extremely busy and staff were under pressure and I accept and allow for that.It took about 20 mins to get a seat and menus . My husband ordered a smoked salmon sandwich with coffee and I ordered a chicken sandwich and tea . After about 20 mins food arrived . Husband’s sandwich was beautifully presented . Cut in quarters and looked very appetising. My sandwich came as a club sandwich with 3 rounds of bread just dropped on a plate . NOT CUT in any way. It was impossible to try and get it in my mouth , again I waited to get attention of a waiter . When he came I requested politely could he take it back to kitchen to have it cut and presented like my husband’s as I could not eat it as it was . I had a serious dental problem at the time . The waiter very rudely picked up a knife and banged it on the table and walked away ! I could not believe what happened . I eventually just took it apart , cut up the chicken and ate it like a salad . On another occasion, my husband tried to get a waiter’s attention and his shouted response was “I heard you “ . The bill for this treatment was €50 . When we got to our room , it was small, dated and balcony was small . Bathroom was modern . There were 2 coffee sachet and 2 tea bags and 2 long life milk which I do not drink . I went down to the cafe area and asked for a small jug of fresh milk and I was informed that I had to pay for it . I have never experienced this before in any hotel in Spain . In my experience Customer service is not a priority in this hotel.I decided at this stage to speak to management at reception to express that we were not happy with the service provided and the manner in how the waiter served us . I clearly outlined our experience and that while we understood that the staff were extremely busy due to the rain , we were shocked in the manner we were treated and his attitude. I also discussed with her how I felt it was important to inform them of my issues during my stay and not just complete a review after we left . The receptionist was shocked re the sandwich incident and apologised. Regarding the milk she said it was hotel policy . I was informed that she would raise our issues at the management meeting the following am and she would get back to us . We are still waiting for any reply/apology from the management of this hotel . Breakfast was average , croissants and cakes were stale . Not enough sunbeds or umbrellas , I have stayed in better 3 and 4 star hotels in the area . In summary , the view is great and that is what you are paying for . Certainly not the service and curtesy of the staff.

Stunning Hotel

We have just returned from a wonderful three night stay at the Balcon, and what a treat it was!The hotel is perfectly located right in the centre of town, with beautiful views that really add to the experience. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.We booked a standard room without a balcony, but it was spacious, comfortable and overlooked a lovely garden area. Breakfast offered plenty of choice, including the added bonus of some bubbles! The breakfast restaurant itself was a real highlight, with stunning views that made you feel as though you were on a cruise ship.We also spent some relaxing time by the pool. The sun loungers had cushioned mattresses, making them very comfortable.Overall, the Balcon is a real treat and feels particularly special for couples looking for a relaxing holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would happily return.
